• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Partial Lake Shows

I can easily create a lake (putting one in where one was left out). The process is simple. But I found an interesting problem when putting in Salmon Lake in Alaska. Only one-half of the lake shows in the "real" view. In the developer mode, the WHOLE lake shows fine. But no matter what I do, that one side of the lake is blocked by vegetation. I've tried the usual, eliminating the veg, new terra poly (raised a little), different "water" (Lake vs Pond, etc). This is not critical for me, I'll simply skip over this site that we need for the RTMM USFS Cabins Project. But I am curious as to what could cause the problem and was wondering if anyone here might have an idea. Years ago in FSX, I saw a similar problem where in ONE area you could see the objects when you were putting them in (IS3) but those objects would not show in "real" time with the sim. Someone said it was a "tile problem" where two "tiles" were coming together in the sim. (This is with FS2020). I've attached a picture. I put in this lake and the little island, all is well, but look how the back half of the lake is precisely sliced off and is filled with vegetation. A fix would be nice, but I'm actually more curious as to why. The position of the problem is 55.58140 4, -132.669 .

You mentioning the two tiles made me think of the following post:

Now, this isn't directly related as the issue above was seen with a CGL, but then again, maybe the issue goes beyond relating to CGL only and is in fact a core sim/SDK issue?

In the debugging menu, there is a way to check where tiles are (I haven't used it in a few months, so I cant remember what it's called off the top of my head) I would see if this aligns with a LOD6 tile as well.

Edit: It can be found at Options > Ground > Debug tile under the dev bar.
