• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v3 Photorico TJPS Refresh

Hi all,

Since my summer schedule does not allow for full time development, I decided to just "touch up" one of my freeware sceneries, now that "my area" of the world has better satellite definition, and google 3D rendering made it to town!

So essentially, I don't have to model anything new, just redo some of the original textures and incorporate new photoreal. The hard part will be the ground airport textures, which I'm doing from scratch and upgrading to 2048x2048 quality. This will of course remain freeware.

This is my home town airport, and I sincerely hope you enjoy the upcoming refresh!

David

Here we can see the new runway extension, and how sharp the 2048x2048 GP's are. In my opinion, a scenery is only as good as it's ground textures. Incredible how many sceneries feature modeled terminal kiosks, and some even elevators playing music, but then don't pay much attention to GP's.

Here's a view of the Zoom Level 17 scenery for my hometown. Definitely an improvement over the Zoom Level 15 of the previous version. I can see the house were I grew up in the second picture (circled red)

And here is where I kind of made a "poll" with some of my followers. I asked them what was more valuable to them, fully detailed static jetways, or FSX native dynamic jetways.
Well it surprised me that a 100% chose the later, so to make up for the lack of detail, I basically focused on the surrounding objects such as Air Carts, Air Stairs, Tugs...basically fill the area with other realistic elements. It is working out good so far.

And yes, I could have SODEs....but at this time I don't have 3DS nor Gmax to make a decently textured model, nor the desire to acquire those.

Here's a shot of the original static jetways and taxiway textures. The taxiways looked really good from 50' above, but were not very crisp at cockpit level.

Some of the updates to the terminal are reflective windows, and textures redone using actual building images. Colors now are a perfect match :-)
Gonna add a detailed parking lot as part of the GP update.

Looks great and so does the other of your airports especially TJIG. You should really extend that beautiful photoscenery and cover the whole of Puerto Rico including Vieques and Culebra. Doing so you could color match it to your own airports (and LatinVFR TJSJ) and make it in to a photoscenery payware product. I for one would purchase that and Im sure many others would as wel

Thanks for the feedback Mike. Not to give them free promotion, but Megascenery Earth has a Puerto Rico product that covers the whole island. Some folks think it is generally "too green", but I find to be a very decent product and it is compatible with my FSX/P3D airports. They offered me to make a package just as you state, but never heard back from them. I was all for it. :-)

Great work as usual David, excellent ground polys. I did the whole island mostly LOD17 around the coast and LOD16 inland, but that was at leasr a year ago, maybe there are better sat images now. I think this picture is not too far from your hometown.

Yes sir they are out there. Unfortunately because of their incredibly large size, it takes several "patches" to make even a small town like mine. Not a big problem, just time consuming.

Thank man!

Hey David I know about the Puerto Rico scenery from Megascenery. I own the latest version and can only agree with others its too green. In fact with your freeware scenery and LatinVFR it sticks out and detracts a lot from the immersion. Annber, have you tried your old photoscenery with Davids airports? Would love to get ahold of it if you ever want to share it :) I got nuvecta buildings and trees for Puerto Rico so with any photoscenery I enjoy great autogen, highly recommend it.

Mike

Mike, I'm sure they should be compatible with Annber's. If I can get a link I will try them myself and gladly advertise it on my webpage.

Here's a video of how it's coming together. The jetways are CTL-J based, but highly improved over stock ones. There is still room to make them better. I'm jsut trying to avoid SODE altogether, and it seems I will be able to. May even share my recipe later :-)
