• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Photoscenery problems

I finally got my photoscenery to work but now I have a new problem. The photoscenery looks great and I'm okay when I land on the runway and stay on the taxiways. However, if I venture onto the grass or anyplace that isn't taxi, runway or aprons I "SPLASH" and then sink. :yikes:
How do I fix this?

Thanks,
Alan

Hi Alan.

You could zip up the INF file, and attach it, and we could take a look at it. And maybe even include the BGL.

My guess is you've got an alpha channel in your source that's acting as a water mask. Where did the imagery come from? If it's the 12.5 cm imagery off the map server for Utah I downloaded some the other day and had the same problem. The alpha channel looks like a black & white variation of the actual imagery.

J.R.,
I don't think I have that alpha channel. Can't find one black & white that looks like the image. I got the image from google satellite. I used SBuilderX 3.14 to get the image and then use GIMP to make the Blend Mask, Water Mask and the BGL. The airport is in New York, KPTD.
Dick,
Attached is the inf file. I hope this is what you need. The BGL is too large to upload. (169K)

Thanks,
Alan

Hi,

Remove Water Mask from your INF file, recompile the scenery and check the problem persist.

If yes:

As mentioned above, in GIMP, open your orthophoto -> right click on the layer -> remove alpha channel. Save and recompile.

If no:

Make sure that in the Water Mask your land area is covered with a "100% pure white color" (255,255,255). S&R.

If you got the imagery from Sbuilder it shouldn't be a problem with the alpha channel then. I wasn't sure where you'd gotten it. I'd try like _pawel says and make sure you have pure white where land's supposed to be in the watermask.tif.

I usually use NullValue = ,,,,0 in the watermask & blendmask sources, not sure if that will make a difference, here's one of mine that's known to work if that helps. Water & blend masks are 8 bit grayscale.

Thanks Pawel and JRobinson. I'll try again with the new info and report back. Might be a few days before I'm able to report.

Alan

I've always had layer=imagery for my blend channels. Guess it makes no difference.
