• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Plane inside a Plane - HELP

Hi guys i have an Antonov and i want to edit the inside (cargo section)so its hard (you know like the top of a carrier) so that another small aircraft can be transported in it in multiplayer, then deployed in the air.

Does anyone know how to do this without editing the model as i have been told you cannot edit an existing model. Would this be possible?
Help please
Thanks Guys

p.s Im running SP2

No. If you cannot "edit" a model, then you cannot "edit" a model...

Why does this answer "No" not register?

I think what Bill is trying to say (in his inimitable way) is your best approach to this is to learn how to model airplanes for FS, build the model you want, and then double-side the model, so that you have an inside to your model. It should be a straight forward (albeit slow) enterprise - after all, many have taken the effort to do it before you.

You might want to release your model source, as well, so that anyone who wants to develop on it has source to use.

Well, all that and this...

In order to "harden" the interior model's floor to allow another model to be placed, requires "editing" the original model, something we've already stated cannot be done... :banghead:

im working on a new sonic cruizer for fsx, and im about to include a virtual cabin and cockpit;

now, what exactly do you mean with 'double siding a model'? i have to create the inside from 0, or i can shrink down the outside and inverse it so i have an inside? i have no clue on how to do this...

any directions? thanks in advance...

You have the basics....

"Most" interiors start off with a clone of the outside, normals flipped, and polygons extruded ever so slightly to give it "thickness".

Then you start modelling the inside - seats, panels, consoles, etc. At that point, it's just modelling - pushing points etc.

NOW, when you start wanting to animate stuff, that's when you have to pay attention to the SDK and read up on key frame animation.
