• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 polys and aprons not removing vegetation after SU9 update.

I'm wonder if anyone has had this after the update?

I've cleaned the package, deleted the poly, redid the poly, all removed

inside and outside option are on.

Any Ideas?

Hi. If you are referring to using DEV Mode in SU9 then this is an issue I have reported. Basically using the sliders to reduce/change vegetation whilst in DEV mode does not appear to change anything. Once you BUILD and re-load the BGL (scenery) the changes are visible. At this stage, there's no feedback on when and if a fix has been considered

Can you please make sure that in the Dev menu/ options / terrain has Draw Shapes Active

Without draw shapes, the polygon are not rendered

Even after I build and reload it still doesn't fix it for me. I'm stumped.

Some troubleshooting:

Are the polygons correctly written in the .xml?
(Because you may have noticed that the
.shp are not there anymore once you save)

Did you also try out with Dev mode off?

Do you have any known vegetation polygon in other sceneries so you can double check that polygons in general are working?

Can you try to add a polygon to a fresh simple scenery?

(I have just tried adding a new polygon and work as expected)

This seems to be an intermittent problem with previous versions, for me I fixed it by toggling all the settings in the SDK, but one suggestion from Asobo is to delete the DevMode.xml file in C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState (or the Steam equivalent) to revert to default settings.

Other projects have no problems at this stage, but I haven't done a build on them.

The shp files were missing in the scene folder. I grabbed them from an backup, but then when I built again, they got deleted again.

SU9 removes the SHP files and now places them inside the scenery (BGL) XML file as soon as you click Save. They are no longer separate

Polys should be kept simple by not mixing too many types in one poly. Duplicate polys and use priority to get the effect you want. I'd leave terraforming as a single type. Vegetation and biome can go together. I'd leave material separate. Exclusions separate. Water separate. This also helps with debugging. I do have a serious lag in working with polys. Save often.

I had this previous to SU9 anyway .

What worked out for me was rebuilding the package. Remove any installed scenery you're working on in the community folder and use the new compiled package if necessary. You will find you can create vegetation.
