• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Position change after texturing

I am relatively new to scenery design and have run into an issue I haven't seen in the forum. I am running FS2004 and using FSDS 3.5. My specific problem is that I have created an "L" shaped building using two rectangles (not joined). Without texturing, I placed the building in FS and the L shape was fine. I then textured the building(s) and went back and placed the texured building(s) in FS but now the L shape is gone and the buildings have formed "+" shape with the same axis position. In FSDS the "L" shape still shows.

I cannot get the L shape back in FS no matter what I do in FSDS. BTW I created both buildings with axis location @ 0 and moved the second into position along with the axis.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Did you check the box in FSDS for night texture and then forget to add a night texture in the texture folder of you scenery?

If so this can cause some strange things to happen.

……….Sorry I just saw your question was for FS9. I think the night texture thing is a FSX problem.

Thanks for the suggestion but Night texturing is not the problem. I went back and re-textured and then joined the structures. It worked. L shape maintained in FS. I then made a new L structure textured it, but did not join them. Part showed good in FS.

I am now left scratching my head and wondering why?

Thanks for the info anyway.

Hi,
When the parts of one on my FSDS project display at the wrong place, it is almost due to a texture problem (misnamed, misplaced...).

Jp

On my last iteration, that worked, I did make a change to my texture and re-named it. So I think you are correct, it may have something to do with the texture.

Thanks for the suggestion.
