• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Preflight state is getting stranger

I noticed a problem with AI not leaving Preflight or Postflight state. So i tried some different things. I noticed that fuel trucks appear at the plane but Baggage handling trucks didn't. I read that a problem maybe is the parkingspot so i turned on slew for the AI aircraft with traffic explorer. Immediatly the traffic trucks came into action. Turned slew of and still the trucks did their work. Aircraft came out of preflight.
There must be baggage trucks at the parkingspot. If there are non the aircraft always leaves the gate.

Later i did another observation.
When i started FSX with a different wind direction some parkingspots which didn't work before starts working and other who worked stopped working.
The aircraft goes still to the same rwy. I can reproduce it every time.

Maybe this behavour gives sombody a clue what is going on

Some of us have observed this behavior some months ago.

In this forum somewhere is all the issues we collected when the conveyor will not move.

It is up to the conveyor to move first and if does not move then a simple just enter slew like you already know about is one answer. The other is momentarily turn off ground traffic when AI are affected and are timing out.

The large airports that seem to be more prone then others are in Europe (Germany).

We also think it might be related to the round world at airports. Some parking spots do not align properly with the leadin taxiline "T" offset. Moving the plane forward/backward a very small amount to ensure the bounding box of the parking spot is triggered helps.

I did not know about the winds but in some cases the problem is group related and in others a single parking spot amoung many won't work.

EDDM seems to have the most problems of all airports we checked.

My testing was when I built all the curved approaches into LOWI and was using EDDM as a departure airport for AI to LOWI.

The wind observation is still strange for me. I focused on 1 spot that didn't work. Then i change the winds from 224 to 150 and it start working. Set time back and it is still working. Changed wind back, time back and it stopped working.

The winds was one issue I don't recall being brought up in the old threads about this problem. That's interesting.

Because of this problem, I generally keep the Ground Vehicle slider to "Minimum" setting. Even there, I have noticed some stuck in preflight problems too. When turned OFF there are no problems. However, in my observations, "Minimum" is much, much better than any of the higher settings.

Only the spots with the luggage trucks in front of it can get stuck. The spots with no luggage trucks will never get stuck so a minimum of airport vehicles will lower the change of getting a aircraft stuck.

That was our (Mace) observation also. It was like the Conveyor is stuck so that dictates the mode as seen in the traffictoolbox.dll.

There is a time limit setting internal for the conveyor baggage belt. It is about 15 min. FS loves a 15 minute value.

You can open a baggage door and when the conveyor shows up start a Time clock. In about 15 min the conveyor times out and returns to park.

If you don't close the baggage door the conveyor repeats going back to the open door and starts a new time setting. I thought maybe the timer may not start correctly when transitioning from Preflight to Postflight state in some parking spots. The 15 min value seems to be latched between to those 2 states.

The winds is an intersting find. I am still trying to think through that. Maybe if the head winds are to high the Conveyor does not have the Torque to move forward. :D

We could take some prop engine torque from a plane and give it to the conveyor .cfg. That might get it moving. Sounds funny but high headwinds will push a Cessna backwards. Set headwinds to 100 kts. Roll the cessna forward a few feet and you are airborne going backwards. Maybe the Cessna 172 has a full beta prop hidden somewhere.

[DesignSpecs]
max_speed_mph = 30
acceleration_constants = 0.3, 0.4 //Time constant (effects responsiveness), and max G acceleration
deceleration_constants = 0.2, 0.4 //Time constant (effects responsiveness), and max G acceleration

We could try and set the accel up a little bit for the conveyor and see if it will shock it loose.
