• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Problem with a FSX model

Hi,

I have an FSX aircraft and want to convert it (with the permission of the designer) to a static model.
When I load the model I get an error "not a FS8 or FS9 mdl file"). I've had this error with a few other FSX aircraft before. What gives? Unfortunatly, there's no exact error log that gives a clearer picture of what is wrong with the model file.

Cheers,
Mark

Edit:
The model was created with FSDSv3.5.1, and the SAMM version is 1.0.08

Mark, please see the introduction to and the first line under Creating the Static Model in the User Manual.

Arno's ModelConverterX has some capabilities for convering FSX models.

Sorry guys, I was on the wrong track, lured on the wrong path by the FSX entry in the SAMM main screen. I re-read the manual and all is clear. I'll try to convert the model in MCX to FS9 format and then reload into SAMM.

Cheers, and thanks,
Mark
