Hello all,
I’m absolutely new to using SDK. I hope this is the right place to post this question.
I’ve gone to the Wiki and followed the instructions and I’m stuck at SDK2 not installing. The tools option doesn’t come up in the game.
My only add-on’s are megascenery files installed on a separate harddrive and I added them manually to my scenery library. If I need to delete them in the scenery library for any reason tell me.
Otherwise, I have a fresh install of FSX. The install goes like this: FSX>SP1>Acceleration. Then I installed the SDK from FSX disc1. Then went to the acceleration disc>SDK folder>installed SP1a> installed SDK.
This is the confusing part. Why isn’t the SDK package on the acceleration disc labeled SDK2?
Aside from that, when I begin installing with the SDK on the acceleration disc, it asks to repair or remove. I’m expecting a further update to sp1a. So, I go ahead with the repair and still no tools menu option. I’ve also un-installed SDK completely and started fresh from disc1 SDK>acceleration SDK folder>installed SDK, and from there it looks correct in that it begins installing with the splash window of all the FSX objects and there half rendered half framework look. Still no tools menu. Then install SP1a (even though that’s definitely backwards, but I’m desperate) from acceleration disc and it gives me a warning but I go on ahead and still no tools menu.
Also farther down, The wiki says if tools menu still doesn’t show up, check: Addons, dll.xml, fsx.CFG. I believe I’m okay with addons but when I go to XP C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX\ to find the dll.xml file. I get no further than USERNAME and find no Application Data folder. Looks like a red flag to me!
As for the FSX.cfg file I don’t remember ever getting the dialog window, “On initial install of the SDK, then subsequent first FSX run, you are prompted whether to trust/allow each of the 3 SDK in-game tools to run. Did you ever say no?” I’m pretty sure I would’ve said yes since this was my first intention. As I write this, I don’t remember seeing those prompts.
I’m going stop right there and see if any of you can see the “simple” mistake I must be making.
Thank you very much ahead of time.
