• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX [Q]using skinned animation

I want to create a sim object include animation. I create polygons from 3DSMAX9. And apply "SKIN" to bone. Then bone rotated and keyframe anmation applied from 1 frame to 100 frames. Then I select "DOOR_0" in FSX ANIMATION TOOL applied to the animated bone. Of course, the "GUID" and "FRIENDLY NAME" was also applied. In the MATERIAL EDITOR select I also gave SKINNED MESH. Finally, after I exported ESP1.0 DIRECTX file, and with "/XANIM" option convert to MDL file. I am running FSX and load the SIM OBJECT include animation. I press SHIT+E key, but animation is not working. I do not know what I did wrong. Give me a hint, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!!

Under the expot dialog, in addion to "Export Animations" you also need to select "Export Skin" (top left corner)

In addition, "Ambient" in the animation list is applied and convert to mdl file. Then animation well work! But "Sim" typy animation(such as "door_0") is applied and convert mdl, the animation does NOT work.
Is there something missing?
 
"Door_0" is an aircraft tag .. and hence is only available to aircraft models.

Ambient and Ambient_Random and Ambient_NonRandom are the only tags that you have available to scenery objects.

The behaviour of the model is as expected if it is scenery.

If it is aricraft, one of the aircraft guys might be able to explain the correct use of the tag to troubleshoot it.
 
Dont forget to tag the material checkbox as well, if the material isnt set the animations wont work , ingame the advanced animations checkbox needs to be on.

PS Make sure that the cfg has an exits section completed if your using doors for the tag ( especially for 3 / 4 )

PPS . Ambient Animations are not limited to 100 KF
