I am curious if anyone else has this problem. Many times, when I close out of FSX and restart it, it will give me instantly, and error that some files couldn't be found, need to re-install. I have FSX + Accel. All up-to-date. This happens WAY to often.
I wouldn't care, because I just have to put in the Accel dvd and it always fixes the problem. My question is, what the bloody heck is causing this. And I am sure, knowing how things work, it is probably one tiny file, and yet I have to wait for a 20 minute install to fix it. It would be too damned convenient for it to tell me WHAT file(s) is/are missing. And the worst part, is since it installs the entire dvd to fix whatever the problem is, it totally overwrites many of my upgrades.... New scenery files, upgraded textures, all new mesh.
This is very irritating and so I wonder: 1) Does this happen to anyone else? 2) Would a virus scanner, drive optimization, or something like that cause this? and 3) Is there anyway at all, program, file list, anything, that would alert me as to what file is missing or where my problem is?
Like I say, I know it must be one tiny little 1k file somewhere that it is looking for that something must have happened to...and for that 1k file, I end up with 2-3 hours worth of headaches putting it all back together...
Thanks if anyone has any help at all on this.. Running in XP btw, and this happens at all sorts of times.. Sometimes right after I install something. Sometimes after I work on my system (nothing to do with fs) and sometimes I will be flying...shut down for whatever reason, and when I start it up again, maybe even instantly as soon as I close it, it will say something is missing.
HELP!!!!
Thanks again!
