• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there,

I am trying to put a car park into an airport in FSX and can not find any object GUID that resembles same. In FS9 as far as I can remember there was a variety of car parks available. Does anyone know if these are still available in FSX and if so where. I have searched RWY12 and can not find any there ether. I know a very detailed one could be made up from scratch but the one I am looking for is the standard GUID object "car park".

Many thanks in advance

Re:Car Park

Has no one ever put a car park into their airport with FSX Planner ??

Help appreciated.

Try this autogen GUID. It's the only one I know of.

Re: Car Park

Hi Frank

Many thanks for your reply and suggestion for a car park, however ,it was not a multi story car park that I was looking for as I come from the backwoods and any of the airports in proximity would only have what I suppose now would be called the old fashioned standard car park on the flat ground. Nevertheless my thanks for going to the trouble of offering what you knew about.

Perhaps some other member might have some info on what I am looking for ?

Regards

There are autogen warehouses that have flat roofs that can be used for airport parking.

I used several of these warehouses for my KSAV Airport which is over at the AVSIM library.

Here are 4 that you can look at

These are all one floor flat roof buildings.

There are many Airport parking buildings in FS9/FSX but they belong to the airport they sit at.

Did you see a parking building somewhere in FSX at a particular airport that looked like what you want?

It does not matter how tall it is because you can lower the building into the ground. I used a 5 floor plus flat roof for my KATL airport parking building but only have 2 parking floors plus flat roof showing above ground.

Re:Car Park

Thanks for your reply Jim

I have tried out your GUID's and can see the way that you provided yourself with car parks ,I presume that you placed some cars on the platforms when you submerged them.

The GUID that I am trying to locate consists of a fairly large flat "asphalt" platform which is placed flush with ground level and has parking lines and 2D various coloured vehicles "painted" on top. Now it would not be as realistic as the way you do it but at a reasonable distance you would not know it was 2D. It was very frame rate friendly as you can appreciate and very fast to install being a single object. I have searched in every nook and corner but cant find it.

Thanks again for your help.

I don't recall a GUID in FS9 that was designed as a car park. There are roof tops of various parking buildings (KATL) that have that design you refer to. That is not to say a GUID does not exsit when there are 1000's to sort through.

I will also look at some airports and see if I can locate any FS9/FSX car parks. If one exsit then it is a easy task to ident the landclass or model.mdl

There are also automobile GUID'ed objects that you can place for added effect.

I had initially put in a car lot in front of my MPTO airport scenery, but I took it out for the final release version because I was concerned about the added number of objects adversely affecting frame rate.

I had never thought of Jim's idea of submerging one of the various building objects and using that "roof" as the basis of parking. Nice idea...

Re: Car Park

Yes I am afraid that I found the same with trying to make up a realistic car park on concrete slab with various cars and trucks. It was far too hungry on frame rates.

I have eventually found the library object that I was trying to find in my first post. I am afraid that it was not an FS9 library object as I had thaught but it was a Lago FSEnhancer FS9 object and tese will not work in FSX. I have the BGL and the BMP file and have tried to decompile the BGL to get the MDL with every Decompiler available without success.

Does anyone know if this is a useless exercise to try and get it to work in FSX or is there some way of useing the BMP on its own if the BGL just cant be got at ?

Many thanks

Re.Car Park

Many thanks for your sugestion.

For anyone interested I have found out that any library objects from the Lago FSE Enhancer are not compatable with FSX and can not be tailered in any way as the source files were never made available.

TokTiny

Hi TokTiny, there is a library on AVSIM called 'default_terminals_ss.bgl' that has a lot of terminal buildings - all shapes and sizes. The buildings are just shaped blocks with photo pics on the faces, so shouldn't affect the frame rate too much. Just sink them into the ground as suggested before. I used to use them before AFX came out and they worked a treat. These should provide you with plenty if parking lots!

Re.Car Park

Hi John, downloaded what you suggested and it makes it very easy to select terminals rather than having to sort out all the default objects.

Many thanks

Guys,
The following file is available on FlightSim and may be of use: -
db_parkinglots.zip

Hi TonyM,

Many thanks for your reply. I am afraid that there is no prog. in Flightsim of that name, however , I found a program named
"db_prklt.zip" which may be the one you were talking about.

Again thanks,

TokTiny
