• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Remove airport NZMF

NZMF (Milford, New Zealand) in the default FSX scenery is at about 800 feet when it should be at 10 feet above sea level. Around the airport boundry there are cliffs going down to correct ground level. All the ground outside the airport is at correct height.
I have tried flatten - that flattens the ground outside the airport bounderies ok. I have also tried all the other methods mentioned on this site including the various Flatten, and Excludes for Airport Bounds and can't find anything that works.
The tools that I am using are:- SBuilder, Shp2Vec, Bln2Shp, BglAnalyzeX.exe, Bglcomp, etc.

Any ideas please. Thanks for all the help I need.
Cheers
Philip

Hello Philip,

if your Flatten is OK around the Airport boundry, I think you can remove your Fs X Airport with the Fs9 Afcad (which includes "delete Airport" command) :

http://pascal.dumat.free.fr/zip/AF2_NZMF.bgl

the altitude seems correctly set to 10 feet in this one and there is no other problem since it is a small Airport (just the Runway !)

The runway

Thanks Pascal,
I am able now to completely remove the old airport and flatten the ground to 10 feet but when I load the new runway (including yours, pascal) it is floating in the air at about 800 feet, the original height of the airport. There must be some invisable bit that I havent removed yet?
Cheers
Philip

Thanks Pascal for your help. Yes there must be something in the scenery we don't know about yet. Any other scenery that I have modified so far has worked fine. We wait for further developments.
Cheers
Philip

If you have created an exclusion/flatten shapefile to to modify the height of the airport to a value different from the default, you need to create a "dummy" afcad containing only the <Airport header and the <DeleteAirport clause. Place this in an area just above the Default Terrain in the Scenery priority. Now, place your complete afcad (including parking, taxiways etc.) above all of the "base" files in the scenery priority. Finally, place your exclusion/flatten shape file in an area above this.

So, the order (from top to bottom) is:

Exclusion/flatten shapefile (cvx*)
Complete afcad
...
...
base*
base*
...
...
Dummy afcad
Default Terrain
