• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

RenderDoc / Google Import to Blender

Hello all.

I wasnt doing anything with the SDK etc for the last 2 months and i tried to search but different answers come up. So i ask here.

The last time i did google maps object downloads i used RenderDoc to capture and import to Blender. Is this still a way to do it (for personal use)? I ask this because i canot seem to make it work anymore, RenderDoc doesnt show me the ID anymore.

I saw in the Github repo in the issues list that the dev said something about that it would be illegal and that is the reason it doesnt work? It could be very well be that i misinterpret that post.

All other topics about this are old so i dont know, what is the way ppl do it nowadays?

Are there other ways? Maybe with Bing Maps? It doesnt have to be google. Maybe i search wrong but everything i try leads me to old renderdoc tutorials. And that doesnt seem to work anymore.

Looking at flightsim.to where every week another city/object with photogrammetry is released there have to be ways still.

Any help would be great.

Thank you. Thats basically the same i used. Besides the he puts it in a shortcut and the other video uses cmd to start chrome.

And this still works? Guess i have to try harder then.

The cmd ist the secret, because it starts the browser with a specific switch that's allowing to show the process id of the browser so the tool can connect to it. You can also check the task manager where the process id is displayed as well.

Guys, sorry but its driving me insane myself.

Did 3 objects now with the way like mentioned last and tried my 4. today and saw that again it doesnt work anymore....

Im doing exactly whats told in the video (with the command in the desktop symbol), like the last 3 times, but it simply doesnt work again. It doesnt let me "capture". The button is greyed out. Connection established like can be seen.

Ive tried at least 15 times now, restarted the pc but nothing, it wont work. Not in admin mode nor in any other mode. Its driving me nuts one day.

Sorry for me depressed tone but its really tiresome. I dont even want to "steal" googles work, all i want is some kind of blueprint for my objects for Bangkok city buildings.

Few days ago i updated chrome. Can that be the reason and they "fixed" it? I have have no idea how i can progress and learn something when i get stuck at the very first steps always. I mean, im A Developer ince 20 years now and until i went into flightsim i thought i know a bit. But here its like it would be my first step into developing things.

I can only pull my hat before you guys, really. I cant even imagine what you have went through to develop for P3D etc.

Found the problem....

Chrome HardwareAccel has to be active. It works now. Sorry again for language.

Edit: hehe, all this for nothing because seems Bangkok doesnt have any 3D info. Even the whole city is in streetview. Well, thats life i guess .-)
