• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Replace arrival times

I am editing some fight plans created with another flight planner (long before I discovered AI flight planner) and when I load the flightplan, I am getting a lot of errors because the overide ETA box contains a value. When I remove this value and let AIFP calculate the ETA it fixes most of the errors. Is there any way to automate this process as manual editing is rather tedious. I tried the "Find / Replace" but that does not allow wildcards in the "Find" field; the idea being to repace the time values with blanks to let AIFP calculate the arrival time.

I am pretty certain I am stuck with manual editing, but in case anyone know of a utility that would do this, I would appreciate a heads-up.

Thanks for any help!

AIFP should only "complain" when it encounters a departure time earlier then the previous ETA or a flight duration that cannot be met with the selected aircraft. I presume your errors are of the latter variety.

If the programmed ETA's are realistic, then perhaps it's the aircraft cruise speeds that are the problem. (Some suppliers of flight plan info change the cruise speed of the aircraft to about 200 kts as a workaround dor the 37-minute problem. AIFP doesn't need this "fix" and, indeed, it will make otherwise realistic ETAs impossible.)

But, to answer your specific question, no, AIFP doesn't have a facility for clearing programmed ETAs. But, the process might be faster if you worked with the text files, did a search for "@" andmanualy clear that field. athat would avaoid having to load every FP into AIFP.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Don!

I did adjust the aircraft speeds and still got both type of errors (a departure time earlier then the previous ETA or a flight duration that cannot be met with the selected aircraft). The adjustment to the aircaft speeds fixed many errors but I still had to overide the entry in the ETA field for the others. Strangly, the decompiled text file had no "@" so there were no easy text file edits to be made.

I did try importing a small flightplan file into Excel as a .csv file and clearing the arrival times, I then saved and renamed the extension from .csv to txt and then opened that file in AIFP, but still got errors. So I bit the bullet, loaded a fresh decompile and manually corrected all the errors by deleting the ETA field and that fixed it.

AIFP doesn't use the "@" symbol, but will accept it in TTools FPs. Since you didn't say earlier you were working from a traffic file, I thought I'd at least make the suggestion. Sorry it didn't help. But, it sounds like you're "back on track" now.
