• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

reprojection with OpenEV_FW

Hi!

I´m trying to repoject my tiff with OpenEV_FW (amazing tool! it´s included in FWTools) but I don´t find the geographic projection in the tool´s menu.

Any idea where is?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I always use the command line commands, I find them a lot easier to use. Did you try it that way already?

Hi Arno:

Yes, I know it. Until now I´ve worked with this method, but I think is more productive to make a reprojection with only two clicks ;)

This tool is similar to GroundMapper and it´s opensource:
http://openev.sourceforge.net/

... but I don´t know how reproject to geographic projection.

Greetings & merry xmas!

Yes, I know OpenEV, but until now I prefer the power the command line gives me over a GUI. I normally create some batch files if I want to convert multiple files with the same parameters, so that I don't have to type the same command over and over again.

I had a quick look at OpenEV again and under Tools it has a Reproject option, but to me that did not seem as easy to use.

Yep, you´re right. I thought that OpenEV could open the .jpg with the cords/projection data in a .map file (and later reprojecting to geographic/WGS84), but I´ve just see It is not possible. So I´ll continue convert jpg´s to Tiff and later reprojecting via FWTools.

Anyway, can you tell me which option i take in the OpenEV reprojection menu? only for curiosity.

Thanks

See the attached screenshot of the Reproject option in the Tools menu. When I had a photo TIF loaded it allowed me to enter loads of reprojection parameters. I am using the OpenEV from the latest FWTools version btw.

Hi Arno:

I was meant this other menu:

projection.jpg

It´s strange, because when I load a Geographic/WG84 in this menu, it don´t appear what kind of projection it has:

projection02.jpg

Yes, that menu also confused me. I see you have a bigger screen as well, as I did not even see all the options (and no scrollbar to be found). That is sort of where I gave up on this not so friendly GUI :).

I know, I am not complaining about the GUI. But given its limitations I prefer the command prompt which gives me all flexibility I want.
