• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Channel_BlendMask = 6.0 means [Source6] band 0 (the red channel) should be used as the blend mask. You only have 4 sources, resample can't find [Source6].

This is spamming right now, and nothing else happens.

How was ICAO_50cm_PR_hw.tif last saved? Do you get any errors/warnings if you open it in PhotoShop, Photo Viewer, etc.? Do you have a ICAO_50cm_PR_hw.psd that you could export another ICAO_50cm_PR_hw.tif from?

What happens if you make a copy of your .inf and remove [Source3], will it compile now?

Im saving the files with default settings of TIF, I tried to discard the layers (there was no layers actually they were merged together), and now im trying as default settings, including the layers.

I dont have HW.psd Im working on the default psd, and just add the effects.

I tried to remove the source3, but source2 started doing the same thing, as the other sources.

Including the layer compression RLE

Hello:

Jim previously alerted us to not only the availability of an earlier version of PhotoShop for free download, but also some of the quirks of how it outputs certain file formats; what version are you using ? :scratchch

Here's a summary I put together regarding options seen in recent versions of GIMP: :pushpin:

FYI: Older and current versions of PhotoShop and GIMP can output *.BMP / *.TIF files which are not fully compatible with SDK Resample.

For SDK Resample compatibility in source images output by PhotoShop and GIMP, ensure 'output' options meet the following criteria: :pushpin:

When Day / Seasonal variation "visible" source images are 'Saved' as a 24-Bit color *.BMP, configure the file format with:

* "Run Length Encoded" (aka "RLE") NOT checked

* "Do NOT write color space information" checked

* "24-Bits" (R8 G8 B8) 'ticked'

When Blend and Water Mask 'data' source images are 'Saved' as a 8-Bit gray-scale '(256)-color-step' *.TIF, configure the file format with:

* NO compression, whether FAX - CCITT 3, Huffman Encoding, LZW, PackBits etc.

* RGB NOT CMYK

* NO ICC sRGB Color Space Profile Embedded

* Optimized NOT Custom Palette

Hope this helps a bit more. :)

Actually, I cant find a option to save my photoreal as BMP, there are only few items like TIF, PSB ...

Perhaps Jim may be able help you further if you answer his questions. ;)

I do not personally use PhotoShop (I use Corel PhotoPaint instead).

I'm using a much older version of PS, CS2, circa 2005 but it appears the .tif export settings are the same

I just ran resample on one of mine, I always see the wrong data type 1 for "XMLPacket"; tag ignored and the unknown field with tag 34665 (0x8769) encountered warnings but I've never seen the "wrong data type 7 for "RichTIFFIPTC" warning. No idea if it's causing the actual problem you're experiencing though.

Resample completed successfully.

I did a quick google search and found this thread, specifically the last post:

https://www.imagemagick.org/discour...&sid=a143b0b5436aa7841be0cc273201033f#p159196

...so I'm wondering if you were to open your .tif in PS (or something else maybe) and save a copy as .bmp, then open the .bmp and save it back to .tif if it would strip the RichTIFFIPTC BS and allow it to compile?

I'm not sure if this may prove useful, but considering where the error message Jim cited immediately above occurs within the ASCII strings one sees in SDK Resample program code, it seems TIFF file related.

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/what-does-resample-exe-do.436204/post-733113

One might wonder if a proprietary file and/or compression format such as "BigTIFF" or "JPEG-in-TIFF" is being used by the OP for working with very large images ...which is incompatible with SDK Resample ? :scratchch

30000x2px? How big is it really? I did one that was 21368x24077px and usually I embed the blend and water masks as alpha channels in the .tif but at that size it was way beyond 2 Gb which if I'm not mistaken is the limit on .tif.

I couldn't remember the exact error so I just exported the above with both alpha channels intact and reproduced your errors above:

Do you get a warning like this from PS when you export it as .tif?

CS2_tiff_size_warning.jpg

I think it's simply too big, you'll need to crop it down or split into smaller parts. ...and redo your .inf.

You're absolutely exceeding the size limit. I get 2.28 Gb out of a file that size. You'll never be able to export it to anything resample can use for less than 2Gb. You have no choice but to cut it down or split it up.

How did you come up with the imagery in the first place? And how did you come up with ulxMap, ulyMap, xDim, and yDim for your .inf? Whatever you did there you'll need to do it again except this time either cut it down to a smaller piece or split it up into multiple images. I use OSGeo4W/gdalwarp to do that, and then GeoTiffToInf to get the numbers for the .inf.
