• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA RESOLVED: Strange black area underneath all aircraft

Hi,

just had a final look at my RAF Brüggen scenery for FSX and was very scared about some black areas appearing nearby and underneath all aircraft (only outside, not visible from cockpit view...):

Can anybody explain what the reason is, please? Actually, I was going to release it next weekend but this way, it is a bummer...

Thank you for reply, Martin. No, this a phenomenon which appears with any aircraft. Although it changes by altitude and angle, it seems not to be attached to the aircraft.
I will have a look at my other PC next days where I also have installed the FSX and Brüggen. There it seems to be everything fine. I will do some experiences with the settings, maybe it has traffic with the DX10 preview which is enabled there while running DX10 scenery fixer which works fine. Will tell you tomorrow...

Hi,

okay, the issue is solved - as assumed the reason is the DX10 preview which I had enabled on my design rig for testing the FSX Brüggen scenery but without having installed the DX10 scenery fixer!
While having installed both on my other PC, where FSX has been installed for almost 7 years now, I did not detect the black areas as above. Shadows are gone:

The lesson is clear: If you ever find any black areas underneath your aircraft like on the shots above, you have to disable the DX10 preview or to install DX10 scenery fixer when using the preview option!
