• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Revising Flight Physics for UV-4 UAV

Hello everyone,

I plan on participating in the 4th annual USA Science and Engineering Festival in Washington D.C. There I will be highlighting my Prepar3D v2 unmanned aerial system the UV-4 V/STOL UAV. I want some help changing the motor settings in the aircraft configuration. Is it possible for me to create an aircraft.cfg that is a true quadrotor aircraft. Not just using the default EH-101 engine like I have now, but I am looking for a multirotor setup that can give me a realistic feel for my UAV.
 
Not possible without some extreme magic. For accurate simulation of nonstandard aircraft, you'd be better off with X-Plane.
 
Hmm... I found out that P3D/FSX SDK only supports a primary and secondary motor for rotorcraft, so my best bet for a realistic simulation is calculate the thrust of all four motors then have one large motor placed at the center of gravity. The theory of vector thrust also is not supported on this platform. So yes Heretic you are right P3D/FSX is not the platform for this, maybe X-Plane but I don't own it and don't use it.
 
You can maybe fake VTOL behaviour with Rob Barendregt's set of gauges, but you'd have to adapt them to your model first.

Robert, your not going to be able to get a realistic flight model for a four motor drone in FSX without some extensive programming. As Heretic said Rob Barendregt's gauges are your best alternative.
