• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Revising tree removal

Is it possible to correct or revise the way trees are removed with FSX_KML? I have removed quite a number of trees using this program and was wondering how you can revise the exclusion to a more specific area in FSX or is it even possible to do that. I removed the files from Addon Scenery\scenery that were created by FSX_KML (using Google to get the .kml) but that did not change anything. Thank you.

I'm not sure what you are asking.

If you want to know if there is any other way to remove trees, then sure, there are other ways. But none as easy as using FSX_KML.

If you are asking if you can edit your existing tree-chopped areas, then, yes you can. It is best if you still have your source .kml files, in which case you can load them into Google Earth and edit the polygons and re-export.

If you don't have your .kml's anymore, it's pretty easy to re-do them, as long as the areas aren't too big.

Thank you for the response. Sorry I am not being too clear on what I am asking. OK, I have created an exlude of trees with KML and find I deleted a larger area of trees then I wanted to. I would like to delete trees on a more selective basis and to do so I wondered if I can undo the original delete I made. As I said, I removed the files I thought did the exclude but apparently not as they still appear in FSX. Does that make more sense to you?

You must find where you placed the .bgl file you made, and delete the file. That's it.

If you placed it in /Addon Scenery, then simply delete the .bgl file. Make sure FSX is not running when you do this.

If you did that, and you are still seeing the area deleted, then it is not because of your exclusion bgl. Things do not appear or disappear in FS without a valid reason--computer programs only do what they're told. Some bgl somewhere is telling it to exclude the trees.

Certain landclass types will appear to have tree exclusions, and yet this is a feature of that landclass type.

After you delete your .bgl then you can re-make the .bgl using FSX_KML, by first re-defining your exclusion area in Google Earth--you can be more selective in this way.

Thanks for the reply Mace. Thanks to you I found the file that needed to be removed, it was incorrectly namedm, I found it by the date I created the exclude. Now I can try to continue what I was trying to do, appreciate the help.
