• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I've just started working with MDL Tweaker, and I have to say it's quite a handy little too, Arno! Thanks for making things like this available to the ranks of us beleaguered scenery developers. I'm having a problem with rotate to user that I can't figure out. I made some trees last night and used MDL Tweaker to set them to rotate, but when I place the final code in FS, the trees don't show up. Just for a test, I tried exporting the same files and placing in the same location, but without tweaking first and they showed up fine. For a second cross-check, I used the same model but removed any texture information and it did seem to rotate just fine to the user. Of course, it was a blank rectangle! My first thought was that I had placed my object facing away from the user, and therefore its normals would always face away, but the untextured model proved this not to be the case. Any idea what this could be? I know it's not much to go on. I'm at work right now, but I could attach the model when I get home tonight if it would be helpful.

thanks,
Bill

How did you get the tree to show?
I am having the same problems and ran the same diagnostics.
Please share. :D

Thanx

I guess it could be that you have to rotate your object in GMax. That happened to me as well when I made some trees. Try to rotate them 180 degrees or so and see if that helps.

Do you mean add a 180 degree animation to the object or just rotate the object and then export it?

Sean E.

EDIT: okay, did a 180 rotation on the object and it works. Weird. Thanx Arno

I mean just rotate the plane that represents your tree 180 (or maybe 90 or 270 degrees) and then export again.

If you are looking to the back or side of it you will not see it, as it will keep rotating away from you :D.
