• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Rotating the object

Hi.

I am trying to rotate my scenery objects to exact direction. If I use the mouse in the rotate mode the rotation will not be accurate enough an the objects jump over preferred location. It seems like it is not possible to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to be more presize as is possible in the move mode. Ergo: Is it possible to use the keybord to rotate objects in FSDS?

Hello Iceland,

instead of rotating with the mouse, use the top bar menu 'transform' and 'rotate'.
It then gives you an input box for exact rotation around a selected axis.
You will probably have to play with it a bit but that is where it is done. Good luck.

Hi France and thanks for the suggestion!

I am afraid I can't use the transform scale function since I have to rotate many polygons at the same time...

Hi Iceland, Canada here.

Try selecting all, each part will rotate on it own axis.

Or try joining all parts then the object will have only one axis.

Hi H_Farfy.

This is truly a global forum :)

The thing is I have to split the polygon into 25 smaller polygons, around 1000m each in order to make flickering free ground polygon. This is truly a major problem. I guess I will have to try to use the heading function that I read somewhere were available in FSDS2 and see if that will work... I will look into it tonight.

There is no heading option in earlier versions of fsds so that will not solve this problem.

I found the solution and it is simple. I just joined the polygons and used the top bar menu 'transform' and 'rotate' as trewinb and Farfy suggested. Perfect! One problem gone and just 999 left :) Thanks.

That’s the joy of this hobby....the problems, I think once all problems solved and every thing learned it will be a sad day and time for a new hobby.

Long live the problems and the learning.
