• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Rotation Issue

I am having a very weird problem. I am attempting to save some MDLs as BGLs and it is working for almost all but one. This one MDL when I save it rotates 90 degrees so that it is perpendicular to the ground. I figured that maybe if I rotate it before saving then save it that I could get it flat. But no luck, this time it didn't rotate. I am assuming that you can only rotate MDLs and not BGLs since it didn't appear to work. Any ideas of what I can do.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

If it only happens for this one object, I would say it looks like a bug. Could you maybe send me the mdl so I can test it?

Do you need just the MDL or the textures also? The MDL is 1.5 MB while the textures a about 50MB even in a zip file.

Hi,

Only the MDL should be enough to check what is going on.

Thanks, I'll have a look.

Not yet. It's on the to-do list, but time is limited.

Hi,

I have only been able to figure out that it is due to the platforms in the MDL file. If I remove those it is OK. When I export to X file, import that X file again and then save to MDL it also works.

So I am not sure what is going on here. Somehow the order of the modelparts in the MDL seems to cause some weird effects in XtoMDL.

But I feel it is very specific to this one object (and I think it comes from a payware product as well). So I will not spend more time on solving it now.
