Runway and Ramp with Black Textures

#1
Hi,

I haven't used FSX in a while and when I loaded a flight at KBHM, the main runway and the main terminal ramp is all black. Here are some photos from 3 view points:

This is the Birmingham Shuttlesworth Airport scenery released by SXAD. It looks as though that the textures are missing so I un-installed and re-installed the airport scenery. But that has not solved the problem. When I uninstalled the SXAD airport scenery, the default airport looks fine. But when I reinstalled the SXAD Birmingham airport scenery, I still get the black textures. I must have done something to cause this when I was working with CVX scenery project at St. Barths a while back. It looks like the problem is with FSX and not the SXAD Birminigham airport scenery.

Have you converted to dds

Hi,

It's not an airport that I created but one that I purchased, so I don't know what you mean by saying if I converted it to dds. All the textures are already in dds format when it was purchased. It did not do this when I first purchased it. It's something that I did and I'm still trying to locate it. The problem is not in the airport scenery itself because I've already tried to re-installed it, as well as removing all the old files.

Okay, I've found the problem.

The problem was caused by the "Preview Direct X 10" box being checked. This should be Uncheck. I don't know why this box was checked but apparently I've checked it for some test purpose.

Hi Ken:

IIRC, you had also been using P3Dv4.x; did the Birmingham Shuttlesworth Airport scenery released by SXAD install and display properly in P3Dv4.x ? :scratchch

FYI: That scenery package was last updated to v1.035 on 12/13/18; do you have the latest update, and does the license only allow installation / activation on (1) version of FS: FSX -or- P3D ...at a time ?

BTW: AFAIK, P3Dv4 will display FSX format scenery properly.

* since If you can only install / activate on (1) version of FS: FSX -or- P3D ...at a time

...and:

* since one can only run (1) version of FS at a time

...one can only use / display this add-on scenery package on one version of FS at a time

Thus, IMHO, you may wish to consider linking Area layers in P3D Scenery Library to a FSX-only installation of KBHM ;-)

Hi Gary,

Yes. You are correct that I had been using the P3Dv4, and I use it most of the time. If you recall, I was using FSX a few months back when I was testing out that St. Barths scenery tutorial, and I thought I may have done something then, but that was not the problem. The reason I was using FSX is because I was testing the L-1011 TriStar, that we had just purchased, and it was for both FSX and P3D. That's when I realized that I had a problem, due to the Preview Direct X 10 box being checked.

Yes, I have the latest updated version. Yes, the license includes both FSX and P3D, You get separate installation files, one for FSX and one for P3D and you can activate both FSX and P3D.
