• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Runway selection floating above runway

I added a runway to my airport and the elevation was off so I adjusted the runway elevations using the terraform option which worked great. I got each end of the runway very close to it's published elevations. Now after I did this I noticed that my runway selector box was floating about 200 feet above the actual runway. Everything looks fine on the ground and is where it's supposed to be but when you select the runway the rectangle was floating high in the air. I moved the runway selection along the Y axis and snapped it to the ground. Now part of the runway selection is level with the ground and at the other end it is a little high. This seems to match up most likely with the difference between elevation ends of the runway. I guess my question is does anyone know if this is going to cause problems or issues? The runway start error is floating on one end so I'm wondering if the taxiway network is going to connect? I have not gotten as far as connecting my taxiways to the runway yet. Everything is in the right place and the aircraft spawns on the runway without crashing at both ends. I just did not expect the selector to float in this fashion so I don't know if I missed something. I've attached a couple of screenshots showing what I am talking about.

Maybe try adjust height in Gizmo window

I adjusted the height in the Gizmo. Originally the entire runway selection was floating about 200 ft. in the air after I changed the runway elevations on each end. I adjusted the height in the Gizmo and got one end to snap to the ground. The other end of the runway is still floating. I'm not sure. Will keep searching and experimenting.

Check the altitude values in your <ICAO>.xml and compare those runway altitudes with the airport altitude. The SDK menu also has an option to display the ground as contour lines, which might give you a hint as to what's happening. Also, both terraforming the airport's background polygon and the "flatten airport" option might help, depending on the airport in question.
