• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SBuilderX exclusion help needed.

Hi,

I am back doing scenery design after a long hiatus (more than 15 years) and I am running into an issue for a freeware addon to Orbx/FTW Pacific Northwest.

I run Orbx/FTW Pacific Northwest as my default scenery. The scenery is pretty great except it is missing some major landmarks in my native area of Mason County, Washington.

Specifically, it's missing two very high truss-arch bridges that sit with the distinction of being the highest and second-highest truss-arch spans ever built for a railroad in North America (one sits abandoned, the other is still in use as a roadway). Recently, I completed the 3D additions of those within the sim, but Orbx/PNW has the roads going completely down both canyon walls.

I would like to remove the stretch of roads that descend the canyon walls and have them end at my bridge ends, as the roads themselves are causing terrain oddities that - in turn - are causing my bridges to display awkwardly.

Is there a workaround to this? And is SBuilderX capable of it?

Not sure if Orbx will respond... perhaps. I don't use it. I design my own scenery instead of pay for it.

In SbuilderX or ADE choose a poly and draw around a section of one road and one around the other section. Usually it does not have to be ALL of the road. We really never know how much road disappears with this size or that size poly.

Right click on the edge of the polies (do one then the other), and choose landclase in the upper window... scroll down to find 'exclude all roads'.

Hit OK or whatever it says and save your project and compile the bgl. Place that new bgl in your active scenery folder and go see if they are gone.

I can be more specific, but I'd be typing for a half hour when I could take you through the process in about 15 minutes on Skype. my Skype name is Robert Lacy. I am the one in Ione, Washington. (yep- far upper right corner of the state, about 28 miles from the border. Bob
