• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Has anyone else seen this? It worked initially, then simply stopped. Both Arno and I have reproduced this error / issue.

Can you be more precise with your question? :p

Are the tiles not loading after a short while and you get the "failed to download" with the little red X at the top left? FWIH, Google will throttle down non-direct inquires, resuming them after a period of time. What that time parameter is, I don't know. But Google is the hardest source to utilize and I've always had better results using Virtual Earth or Yahoo Satellite.

I think Lance is correct. As I recall Google allows only a very limited number of downloaded tiles before it stops serving. They are saved by SBX but it can be a pain to get enough to cover a decent area at high zoom factors. I think this is true of most tile servers to some degree or other.

Same problem arises with the program (can't recall the name) that gets background images for use with programs like AFX.

Thanks guys, that was what I thought already. It's a pity for Nick that only Google has decent images of his airport. On Yahoo or Virtual Earth the resolution is just too bad :).

Apparently this can be got around with some kind of confirmation using CAPTCHA. Other programs have implemented it.

Maybe this could be added to the request list?

As Arno says, for the area I am working with, I have to wait 24 hours between loads to get only part of the area. 'tis a nightmare :banghead:

On a sidenote... this is a very cool program! Nice one!

Hi Nick.

A Captcha won't help this issue. The tiles are downloaded from the data servers, not from google maps.

The issue is with Google, not with Luis' program.

You could use a different ISP if your internet provider allows it... that gives you a fresh slate. Or just waiting a few days before accessing the Google map service usually has the same effect.

Hi Dick, thanks...

Maps2Bgl gets around this with the method I mentioned. It prompts when you get to a certain download limit. (I read this third hand btw).

I suppose I just need to take a few days...
