• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

sbx flatten problem

I tried tagging my poly with AirportBackgroundFlattenExcludeAutogen. Result came out good except for no flatten. I did enter alt as 1 which is one meter... about 3.8 ft (close) which I wanted, but I did not get any flatten effect. In fact, when I clicked on properties I'd get an error which gave me a choice of yes or no. (?) either one would knock me out of SBX. I can't find the error right now- which may be a good thing, but I've seen it posted in other threads.

Anyway, quite often, I'll make my poly and try to choose flatten, selec all polys, complie and it tells me there is nothing chosen, please go back and select the items to compile. If I enter the above tag (airportbackground...etc. it ends up as a landclass which does compile but still does not give me a flatten. I'm missing the ring on this somewhere. ( missing the ring- messing up.) Bob

Hey Bob, fancy meeting you here! ;)

Can you zip up your SBuilderX .SBP file and attach it? I'll take a look.

And where you have SBX installed look in the \Tools folder and verify it has the compilers from the SDK there; BGLComp, Resample and Shp2Vec.

Ah! Fancy indeed. We'll have to do lunch sometime. :)
I'll check my settings. That might be the crux. In the meantime let's see if I can attach this file.
file says .doc. Please change it back to .sbp
Bob
Ps tools folder does have the above items you mentioned.

The polygon had no TAG applied to it, that's why it wouldn't let you compile. It has an elevation assigned to it, .25m or about 9", if that's what you planned. I took it, recognizing the yellow color meant it was an unassigned poly, right clicked on one of the sides, assigned it AirportBoundaryFlattenExcludeAutogenMaskClassMap etc, etc. Load it into SBX and it should compile OK.

Lance- Wonderful! It worked. I tried my own to redo it. My alt is a bit igher than I wanted -0 about 6.99 ft. but that's just a matter of converting and fussing with it a bit. I'll take your zip anyway.

I believe my problem was I was clicking on the poly and not on one of the sides. This is why it would not select.

I thank you for your wonderful help. I"m sure I will have other questions in the future.... like.... why in the world do we do all this stuff (sim design)? :)

Anyway May I kiss your ring? Opa Marshall makes me kiss his! bwahahaha! Again, thank you for your help. Bob
