• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Scenproc x64 not detecting VC++ 2008 SP1 Runtime on Win7 & 8.1

When I try to run Scenproc x64 DEV 29/4/2017 or the latest one (posted to resolve the temp file locking issue with dropbox) on a fresh fully updated Win7 VM or a Win 8.1 PC, it complains that I need MS Visual C++ SP1 Runtime installed.

I have downloaded both the 32 and 64 bit ones and installed on the Win7 VM, and have the 64 bit one installed on my Win 8.1 tablet and it still refuses to detect. There seems to be no issue on Win10 x64. Below are the versions installed on an affected Win8.1 x64 PC..

cheers

Braedon

PS. When you download the redistributable from Microsoft the download page says it's 2008 SP1, but the SP1 does not seem to show in the add-remove software entry like it does with the ReportViewer entry. I have performed the repair with the installer when my downloaded copy detected it was already installed as well.

That did the trick.

My installed versions are now as follows on the fairly vanilla Win7 VM:

The version x64 9.0.30729.6161 resolved the issue. Interesting that the latest one from Microsoft if you do the download search for "Visual C++ 2008 SP1 redistributable x64" is older than this one.

Thanks Arno.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll let the messagebox about the missing redistributables take you to the right download page.

Sounds like the most obvious and least intrusive method, yes.

cheers, and thanks as always.

I have made the change now. When the redistributables are not found, you'll be asked if you want to download them.
