• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SDK versions for FSX se

Hi all

I use object placement tool in fsx se to place small scenery items to enhance local areas. I downloaded a sdk complete with folders and bgl compiler which is installed in the main fsx se folder, everything works fine.
When I have created the new scenery, I run the xml file with the bgl compiler, and it creates the new .bgl file.

I have stepped into the world of ADE. I have the Lockheed Martin sdk 1.4 which is installed in the (86x) folder. To the best of my limited knowledge that is working as I have created a new airfield.
I decided to trial something, so after placing some objects using the object placement tool and saving as new scenery, I took the scenery xml file and ran that in the Lockheed-Martin bgl compiler, but it did create a new bgl file. I screen shot the compilers very quick message say the scenery was parsing?

Does this mean that the Lockheed-martin compiler does not compile objects that are created using object placement tool

Regards

Rhys

Hello:

For FSX_SE, I almost forgot about a recent L-M P3D SDK Tool that is technically distinct from FSX RTM Object Placement Tool (aka "OPT"):

https://www.google.com/search?q=Pre...AEQARgI2gEGCAIQARgT&sclient=gws-wiz-serp#ip=1

But P3D has the SimDirector, which does the same type of thing. And placement BGLs from SimDirector are valid for FSX as well.

You may also wish to review these search results:

Personally, I use Flight1 Instant Scenery 3 (only works with FS9, FSX [all versions], or P3Dv1.4x, P3Dv2.x, P3Dv3.x):

Another option with a live in-sim preview is Whisplacer (free):

One may also use Arno's ModelConverterX, ADE, or SBuilderX (all free; without a live in-sim preview)
