• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Seeing fire effects

Hi,

I've installed several BGLs which contain information to display fires. The files were from the Nor-Cal Prop Club site (http://www.freewebs.com/wreckerman/WEBPROTECT-norcalfirefighters.htm -free registration required).

I installed the BGLs and effects per the instructions without any visible results. I tried converting the BGLs to XMLs to make sure I was looking in the right places. I've had no problems seeing fire effects in missions and when I installed the fire effects example contained in the SDK it worked just fine.

Using BglAnalyzeX, BGL2XML.092 and SDE0.90 in attempts to find the problem has left me more confused than when I started. To someone like me, who's not familiar with scenery design, it appears that they're not even looking at the same files. I see Weather, Trigger, and Model references which are baffling me. The Lat and Lon data is the same.

I've installed the files on two computers running Acceleration. One having a Radeon HD 5500 series card and the other using a GeForce 6100 series. No fire display on either.

My ignorance on this matter can not be overstated. I didn't know where to go so I abandoned all hope and jumped straight into the lion's den as it were. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Jim F.
