• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Selecting a color for water. Possible?

Arno (or anyone else you might know), I use scenProc to create my water polys ( I will have to show you some superb results after your latest updates to TFE). In SbuilderX you can also create a water poly but you can select the color of water you desire, I believe by choosing a texture number for water. Is that possible or could it be possible to do this in scenProc?

Hi,

Is that done per polygon in SBuilderX? I thought water selection was done with waterclass files. At the moment scenproc does not make waterclass (or landclass).

Hi Arno:

IIUC, the OP plans to make CVX Vector Water Polygons, which can include a Water Class Color Attribute within the Polygon area by GUID ?

IIRC, Terrain.Cfg definition of mapped "Texture" for each such CVX water Polygon object by GUID may not require underlying water class ?

AFAIK, even if one does not overlap a "Hole" in local PR terrain, a CVX water Polygon object by GUID may still require underlying water class 'color'.

Otherwise one may get local Land Class with a "Hydro" overlay rendered from available terrain textures underneath CVX Water Polygons.

What about this option in ScenProc ?

"10.5.11 CreateTVecWaterPoly

Purpose

Create water terrain vectors. The vertices of the water polygons need to have a valid elevation set.

Arguments

1. The filter to select the polygon features that should be used to create the water polygons from.

2. The GUID of the water polygon type to use."

I'm curious about this too, while planning to convert / edit CVX Vector streams / make or edit water Polys ...outside KBHM PR aerial imagery.

Most FS2Kx users have performance to spare (100 -> 300 FPS) on modern computers, so we can now indulge in specular reflection and full Hydro features with all water bodies ...including what used to be lifeless textured lines / polygons for "Streams" / small Rivers.

With the GUID in the CreateTVecWaterPoly step you can indeed select different water types already. See the screenshot below for the different types that are in the default terrain.cfg file.

But I assumed @Clutch Cargo already tried these different GUIDs. Maybe that's a wrong assumption.
