• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

i am trying to sections my project so i can apply SETAGNBUILDINGHEIGHT & SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE for each section,

provided i created a closed poly called AreaA and AreaB via kml & merged into buildings shp
can i do something like this?
Code:
SETAGNBUILDINGHEIGHT|type=[B]AreaA[/B]|0.1;0.2;0.3;0.4
SETAGNBUILDINGHEIGHT|type=[B]AreaB[/B]|0.4;0.3;0.2;0.1
#
SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE|type=[B]AreaA[/B]|Area_A
SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE|type=[B]AreaB[/B]|Area_B
#
CREATEAGNGENBUILD|FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=buildings.shp;type=[B]AreaA[/B];FWIDTH<20|{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}|MAXRATIO=2
CREATEAGNGENBUILD|FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=buildings.shp;type=[B]AreaA[/B];FWIDTH>20|{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
CREATEAGNGENBUILD|FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=buildings.shp;type=[B]AreaB[/B];FWIDTH<20|{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}|MAXRATIO=2
CREATEAGNGENBUILD|FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=buildings.shp;type=[B]AreaB[/B];FWIDTH>20|{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
#

[EDITED AFTER POST]
tested above steps didn't work,
tested with FAREA; no joy either

any advice on how i can achieve this

TIA

Hi Chris,

SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE is unique for each Tile, so all building on a single Tile refer to the same AGNBuildingTexture (like BuildingHeight)... you can't modify this value in function of feature attribute cause it could be different on a same Tile.

Thank you Vogel

i understand why my steps above didn't work
i am less concerned about SETAGNBUILDINGHEIGHT
id like to be able to segment into area's for applying different textures for each tile

if i use something like this
Code:
SETAGNBUILDINGHEIGHT|*|0.1;0.2;0.3;0.4
#
SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE|*|Area_A
SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE|*|Area_B
SETAGNBUILDINGTEXTURE|*|Area_C

#
CREATEAGNGENBUILD|FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=buildings.shp;type=AreaA;FWIDTH<20|{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}|MAXRATIO=2
CREATEAGNGENBUILD|FTYPE=POLYGON;FROMFILE=buildings.shp;type=AreaA;FWIDTH>20|{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
#

scenProc will divide SPLITGRID into three
than spread the texture evenly across
i was hoping i can control the spreading; instead of dividing into three

Best regards

Chris,

Yes I'm agree with you, It could be a good idea to add filter to AGNbuildingTexture like AGNbuildingHeight based on center of Tile(in or out of a Area)...

Hi,

The filter for the autogen height and texture works that it will check if the center of the autogen tile is inside a polygon that matches the filter. So it should be possible to do what you want.

Back to the first post, did you add an attribute with the name type and the value areaA to the polygon you created? You need to make sure the filter matches the data you load.

Thank you Arno
yes; i have manually added AreaA and AreaB attributes to building shape file
after i merged the kml including the area poly's (closed)

is it possible that scenProc looks at the houses polygons as holes inside the areaA poly

Best regards

Hi,

Scenproc would never create holes out of nowhere. Can you should the data you made?

Thank you Arno
there was no data created at the end of the job
i will run the job and post the steps and log in few minutes

Chris,

Hi,

I more mean the input kml file you made.

Thank's Arno

im with you there; i believe i did

let me know if log is required as well

just to update information,

KML was first saved as shape, than merged to buildings with QGIS

did you want me to post the original kml or the converted shape?

Chris,

Hi,

The attribute names are case sensitive, in your shp it seems to be type, but you have TYPE in your configuration file.

Ive fixed my mistakes, it works now!
but results are strange
i keep trying different syntax for steps
cant figure out what im doing wrong

Chris,

Hi,

Why are you using FAREA? That is a special attribute for the area of the feature. So comparing it to a string makes no sense here.

:o
oops, this was just my last trial, i didn't even noticed
i used type prior, with similar results

i cant seem to reference the kml poly; as area, they get defined as buildings

CHris

Hi,

Why don't you load the kml file with the IMPORTKML step? Then it is not mixed with your buildings. Merging it might make things harder. If you import it from a separate file you can use the FROMFILE attribute to distinguish them.

Thank you Arno

im little confused, there will be two different files
how would i go about referencing an area from one file
with objects from another

i'm already using fromfile=
can i use fromfile twice in the same filter statement?

Do you need to do that? For setting the texture you need the polygon from the kml file and for making the buildings you use the shapefile. I don't see why you need to use both of them at once.

can you please show me an example?
i think that will help me better understand how to go about this

i am trying to use a different buildings texture in some areas
i thought i could use poly from kml to define the area

Regards
