• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all,

I'm experimenting with a new feature that has been on my wishlist for a long time already. When exporting your object to a specific format, there are often a number of settings that influence how the object is written. These settings are set in the options now. But the list of options has grown quite long, so it is not always clear which options applies to what. Therefore I am now testing if I can move these settings to the dialog you get when saving your object. That would be a more logical location to show them I think, because it would be possible to show only the options that are relevant for the format you are writing to at that moment.

Below is a screenshot of the current work in progress of this feature. Let me know what you think about this.

Hi all,

I have made more progress on this now. Also in the import file dialogue I have added the relevant options now. What I still need to do is make sure that the remaining options in the options form are logical and consistent. But I doubt I will be able to finish that before the holiday seasons starts here, so it will probably take a while before I can finish this change.

Hi all,

Just a quick update. I am still working on this change after I have returned from my vacation.

Now that many settings have moved to the import and export screen, I am working on changing the options dialogue to present the remaining options in a more user friendly way. I am making good progress on this and hope to have this change finished in a week or two (once the coding is done, I need to update the manual to reflect the changes as well of course).
