• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Sharing data in multiplayer

I'm trying to use a gauge to create a client data area on a multiplayer server instance of SimConnect.

The simconnect.log file on the server tells me that the gauge is connecting to SimConnect. It is creating the client data area. However, when I try to set a value in the client data area, nothing happens - the SetClientData function returns S_OK, but no entry appears in the log file.

If I install the gauge on an aircraft running on the multiplayer server, and connect via TCP/IP, rather than locally, it works fine - the data area is updated and I get an area in the log file.
I have the same issues with client defined events - TransmitClientEvent returns S_OK, but doesn't have any impact on the server. Again, running the gauge on the server results in success.

Things I have tried:
- Shared FSX folder and related folders in MyDocuments and AppData.
- Shut off Windows Firewall on both the server and client machines, along with the firewall on the router.
- Swapping which machine runs as the server. Same problem arises regardless of which machine is server and which is client.
- Increasing MaxReceiveSize. Currently set at 2048. The data area I'm trying to set consists of two UINT32's, so I can't see this being the issue.

I clearly have some kind of configuration issue that's preventing the sending of data to the server machine. Anyone have any ideas what it might be?
