• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw, Westland Whirlwind and Westland Wessex for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024

Hi, I have a question. Can you tell me who will develop the Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw, Westland Whirlwind and Westland Wessex for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024? Thank you so much for your help.

Sincerely,
Connor Richey

I have been wanting to do the Westland Whirlwind twin engine WWII fighter for 2020 and 2024. I have a stack of planes already to make though. :(

Nope. It's a twin-engined fighter developed by Westland in 1938 as a contemporary of the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane. It was a service failure because Rolls-Royce could not get the Peregrine engine to work properly (basically they pushed the development of the Kestrel too far). The name 'Whirlwind' was later reused for the Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw in 1950 when built under licence by Westland for the RAF.

I've flown in Whirlwinds. It's the only time I've ever been worried in a helicopter; on that occasion I was sat opposite the open door and the bloody pilot was cutting the tops off thistles and pivoting round trees.

Well, I am expecting someone to develop the Westland Whirlwind helicopter for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 and I hope someone does it.

My first ever helicopter flight was in a Whirlwind HAR10 at RAF Valley in 1969. We lost the engine shortly after takeoff and the pilot (a QHI from SARTU) autorotated us back to the ground. The landing was rough, but we all walked away from it. In my later RAF flying career, I never trusted helicopters!

I am asking for any developer to develop the Sikorsky H-19 Chickasaw, Westland Whirlwind and Westland Wessex for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, you know.

My guess is that an FSX port-over to 2024 will occur for the H-19 and many of the vintage helicopters before a complete new model is built. I've contemplated doing so for the CH-46.
But, after reading threads blasting the quality of these port-overs, rather than being happy the aircraft exists in 2024, is creating hesitation.
