• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SimConnect Multiple Ports

Hello,

I've exhausted my other resources and this question has gone unanswered elsewhere. I'm trying to run SimConnect with multiple ports. I have one port running successfully for ActiveSky Next. I would like to run my Saitek Instrument Panel off another port. How do I specify two distinct ports using IPv4 in my SimConnect.cfg and SimConnect.xml files? When I duplicate what was working for my current single port configuration for two ports, nothing works.

Thanks!

Erik

If you put the SimConnect.cfg file in the folder of the application using it, rather than in MyDocuments, you will get the advantage of being able to use different settings for each application. If in fact what you are saying is correct (and I don't doubt what you are saying...) then you can use IPv6 or named pipes for the other connections. Remember, as long as the settings being used in the SimConnect.cfg file are duplicated in the SimConnect.xml file on your FS machine, you should be good to go.

I didn't know I could put SimConnect.cfg in respective application folders. What I had done seemed like it should've worked, but did not. I had created two sections for IPv4. One was under the heading [SimConnect] and the other under [SimConnect.1]. SimConnect.xml was created to match, but there was a problem somewhere and nothing worked. It sounds like I may be able to set up SimConnect.xml for 2 ports, and try making 2 SimConnect.cfg files on the other computer instead of 1 SimConnect.cfg with two IPv4 headings. I'll try that shortly!

Thanks
