• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

When I fly into my airport where the lights were created by AFLT, the lights are not showing in either day or night mode. Other than no lights, the airport appears without any issues.

When I DISCONNECT then CONNECT using the Simconnect box, the lights appear. If I start the flight at the AFLT airport the lights appear without any issues.

Any suggestions on having the airport lights ON without recycling Simconnect once the aircraft is in range of the airport?

I'm using P3dv4.5 and AFLT 10(a).

Bill

Don,

Another issue I discovered is when I build my taxiway lighting using the "Add/Edit Taxiway" with the choice of Left/Center/Right, my taxiways and center lines work as I hoped. There is no center line light that is lit in the day.

When I use Add Line of Lights to create my center line lights, the center line lights remain lit in the day and night. This may be the way AFLT is designed, but it took me a while to figure out why some of my center line lights were lit in the day and some were not. :)

Only the wigwags and PAPI/VASIs should be lit during the day unless you have programmed PCL. Have you programmed PCL? Are you still playing with Connect/Disconnect? If so, please stop insofar as you need support.

AFLT isn't build to do the unexpected. It's goal is to add realism, not mystery.

I need you project folder and airport.bgl in order to comment on this (or most other) issues.

I'm leaving Connect/Disconnect alone except for last night and today when I had to cycle them off and on to get the lights to be visible.

Thanks, Bill. I've just discovered a serious problem with effects in FSX. I feel that has to take precedence over your issue which has a workaround.

I'll get to your issue ASAP

Thanks for being patient, Bill.

The attached files should all be copied into your AFLT folder. In addition to fixing the effects issue I discovered (the user manual still needs to be updated), this release should load AFLT lights when about 20nm way from an airport

Don,

I just now was able to try your update and the lights did not come on without recycling the Connect/Disconnect switch. I waited until I was inside the Outer Marker.

Let me know if you need me to try any thing else.

Strange. It worked for me this morning on a flight from KLAX to KSAN.

It shouldn't take more than a few seconds to collect all the lights once the aircraft gets within about 20 miles of the airport - unless that's too soon and Flightsim ignores the request. Also, If you reposition the aircraft the lights should also be loaded immediately

How did you go about it, please?

Also, please confirm the file Documents/Prepar3d v4 Addon Files/AFLT for P3D/AFLT (SimObjects).exe date-stamp shows today.

Don,

In my /Documents/Prepar3d v4 Addon Files/AFLT for P3D/AFLT (SimObjects). the date-time stamp shows 04/05/2020.

I placed the files you posted above into my E:\Airfield Lights folder. If this is incorrect, let me know and I will correct.

Bill, did you actually execute the update I sent you this morning. If not, you need to do so to get the files where they need to be.

Don,

I took the files you gave me and copied them into my E:\Airfield Lights folder. I then ran the exe file. This started AFLT. I then compiled and saved my airport. I checked the
Documents/Prepar3d v4 Addon Files/AFLT for P3D/AFLT (SimObjects) and the date-time stamp now shows 04/13/2020. I then fired up my C172 in KDUC, set the time to Dusk, and flew to KSPS. The lights did not show until I recycled CONNECT/DISCONNECT.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but I just don't know what or why I seem to be out of sink with what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for trying to help me.

Have a good evening.

The new functionality certainly wasn't going to work until you executed the .exe - which is how the updated AFLT (Simobjects).exe was going to get where it had to be. That it still doesn't work is disappointing. Unfortunately, I can only "ask" Simconnect to do certain things. Whether or not it actually does them is beyond my control.

I assume you are still using LOD-Variable lights. I will compile your airport and attempt to duplicate your flight.

I have just completed the test flight, both in Slew and flying modes and, as you report, the lights are not on when you arrive at KSPS. But, given the lack of delay when triggered with disconnect/connect, it appears they have been created. but are waiting for some trigger. I'm investigating

The lights will appear this time, The problem was a little piece of test code that escaped my attention.

Copy all the attached files into your AFLT folder AND execute AFLT and compile KSPS. Then please check that the date stamp on Documents\Prepar3d v4 Addons\AFLT for P3D\AFLT (Simconnect).exe is 4/14/2020.
