This sounds bizarre - but try connecting BEFORE you load an airport in either FSX or FSX Planner. Wait until FSX gets to the main screen - then try to connect.
We are all used to FSUIPC which cannot connect unless you actually have the airport loaded. You can connect with SimConnect as soon as the application is running.
I don't know if this will work or not. I have been trying to make the connection thing work for weeks. I used the alternative config and the remote connection process - but it didn't work until I tried connecting before an airport was loaded in either application.
Vista 32 Home Premium on a dual-core Athlon if that helps.
