• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 simdirector problem

click on tools, choose simdirector - It loads to 69% and sits there. any ideas?
For me it helped to disable the ORBX Lib temporarily when I start the Simdirector. So, if you have it installed, disable the lib and the Simdirctor will boot. If the lib is not installed, maybe there is another big lib with many 3-D models. Maybe it helps then to disable this lib.

But please do not forget to re-enable the lib's when you're done with the simdirector! :)

thanx for the reply. since I do decent sceneries I do not buy Orbx, so there might be some other scenery involved.

I would consider an incompatibility with some FS9 models, depending on your v4 build.

I've made sure any fs9 crap has been updated s it works in p3d4. A number of things to do here and there. works well,
All shows up - A few bits and bobs to do in ADE as well.

But will keep it in mind. I really don't care for SimD but if stuff is there I would like it to work since I bought it!! hahaha

I have an install with bare bones so I can use to create mission content, then I have a version with my addon's in. My SD grinds to a halt with Orbx installed... may as well get lunch and come back while it loads, and hope it doesn't crash.

Orbx changes things on your P3D or FSX files. Pretty scenery- well done... but spendy and if you do your own scenery designing... why buy Orbx? Yes- you can disable vectors but so much other stuff you can't and don't even know where these files are.

I tried changing EL on a scenery for a friend who has Orbx, but this scenery of his is within the area he bought and installed (he does not have vectors). I could change the airport EL (alt) but not any of the surrounding land. On my machine it worked but his - no change. EVEN when he moved his scenery ABOVE Orbx in scenery cfg - still no change occurred.

This was reported to be a problem with FS2004 type models, that ORBX uses and was caused by some open memory slot and was supposedly addressed in recent versions that ignore the anomaly.

I wonder.... Those Orbx objects that were FS9 type- do they NOT show up in P3D? If not thee is a fix for that - I think.

The models just cause a hang, while the software searches for a solution and eventually proceeds.

rk- interesting! Maybe this is totally different, but I will take a library into MCX. As it is loading a small window might pop up you then click on the word 'set' if I recall, and the load continues.

Then it might happen again and again. I hold down the enter key while those little windows pop up and quickly continue. After all is loaded - all this tells me this library is an FS9 style lib. I then export scenery and compile as P3D or FSX style bgl.

It will want to overwrite if your navigation is right. This solves that problem. But as I said, perhaps what is being discussed above is something different. If so- I owe y 'all a pizza and a 6 pack. ;)
