Good Morning Guys,

how are you?

After installing a few add-ons, all native P3D v3, I am not getting the following error when loading P3D. It then loads normally, once I accept the error. Any idea?

"SimObject Display Engine for FSX/P3D has stopped working"

Intalled AddOns:

FTX Global, FTX Vector, Europe LC, REX, SoftClouds, AS Rome, AS Heathrow, FT Dubai, FT Vienna, FT Corfu, DD Warsaw 1.4, FSDT JFK v2.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated?

Thanks!

Gio

Guys just furthermore to the issue. I have the correct entries on the exe.xml and the dll.xml files that are in the folder of hte p3d.cfg. There are the same files where the scenery.cfg is, and those ones are empty?

When I try to load the SimObjects.exe from the SODE folder in P3D, I get the same WINDOWS message.

Hi,

Well, officially, SODE in the current release has not been tested by me for P3Dv3 compatibility. So I don't know why developers just install an unsupported module...
I am finishing up a new version which is fully compatible with P3Dv3, following Lockheed Martin's guidelines to install add-ons outside of the Prepar3D root folder.

Try to find a SODE.log log file in your system (should be in the root folder of Prepar3D), it may contain other useful information.

Thanks a lot Jeffrey.

The thing is that I haven't heard of anyone having the same issue so far. As far as I'm concerned, the problem is that the Executable is failing on start up. :( It's a really weird thing.

Any way I could give your beta a go and report back to you if that is the issue or if it needs further investigaiton? It was a cleant P3d install, and I just installed what you see there.

Take care.

Strange indeed. If you could locate that SODE.log file it would be of great help finding the root of this issue.

So it's really not starting up in this case...
Any double entries in the exe.xml or dll.xml?

Nothing at all. I jest check both of them, the ones in the p3d.cfg and the ones in the scenery.cfg folder. :( It all looks quite neat and tidy, and the SODE entry is in it. If I go to the SODE Folder and try to execute the .exe I get the same exact error... :(

Wait a second...you have a set of dll.xml and exe.xml in two different locations, both having SODE entries?

There are two sets of DLLs in P3dv3 yes If you delete ones, they regenerate (empty) when you reopen the sim the next time.

One set is empty, one set has the correct entries for my add-ons, including SODE.

As far as I have been told, they all merge into one when you restart the sim.

So, to confirm, I only have one SODE entry.

Thanks, so if one is empty, it's fine. In total, only one SODE entry per (merged) exe.xml and dll.xml should exist. Everything ok for that part.
When you rightclick the SODE.exe, can you take a screenshot of the version details?
Also, what is the SODE folder structure?

Hi Jeffrey,

it says product version 1.2.2

The folder has 3 subfolders (cfg, sdx, xml) and then AircraftParameters.ini, SimObjectAnimationModule.dll, SimObjectDisplayEngine.exe, SimObjectDisplayEngine.dll and SODE.log (which is empty).

I tried to update the software using the executable on your website, but it says that there is not version of p3d v2 installed, so it doesn't let me do it. :(

BTW I use Win7 Pro 64 bits... brand new formatted 3 weeks ago.

Thanks a lot again, for your time!

Looking all good to me...

Try to run it as administrator? Right-click on exe and select that option...

Well...

I updated to v1.3, and it all works like a charm it looks like!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU for your time, and for your amazing work! I will be buying the VGDS for sure, as we need to keep supporting guys like you who make our hobby so much more enjoyable!

Again, thanks for your time and efforts! Great job!

Haha, congrats!

Keep in mind that the jetways at Rome may not work with the new version, they need to recompile them.

You will not believe it... but I'm getting the same error again! :( I didn't do anything.

I de-activate the sceneries from the CFG when I don't use them, might it have something to do with it?? :(( I tried to reinstall it and make sure that it was registered on the new tool that you developed. I also checked the exe and dll and the entries are on one of them.

What is going on :(((((

Sorry, I can't help you. For most of the users, SODE works out of the box. So I guess it's something general Windows-Settings wise, or something with a Anti-Virus Program blocking SODE from execution...just guessing here

I know this is an "old" thread, but how do you install SODE into SFX? I did the installation, but it don't show up in my "Addons" in the sim, and just clicking on the .EXE file does nothing. What the heck am I doing wrong?
