• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

SimVariable offsets

Where can I find the offset values used for the Core Utility Simulator Variables published on the SDK website?

I have the SDK installed but I'm not much of a C programmer so I didn't find the mapping between the variable name constant and the offset value.

The overall goal is to correlate the SimVars to FSUIPC Offsets. I am hoping that the FSUIPC offsets have the same value as the equivalent Sim Var offset - maybe a fool's errand?

There is no direct correlation between SimConnect variables and FSUIPC offsets. It's better to use one or the other.

Hi Folks

rheitzman -
It'd be helpful to know what you are aiming to achieve,
and might be easier to ask Pete directly in his forum at Simflight.

FSUIPC3 (FS2004) used offsets.

IIRC, & solely AIUI -
- Pete worked with ACEs on the creation of SimConnect.
- FSUIPC4 acts as a front-end for SimConnect.
I don't know whether offsets are still used for SimConnect.

Fool's errand as I expected - thanks @mgh

I'm trying to figure out ways to make it easier for VB.Net/C# programmers to use the .Net FSUIPC.

it's not a fool's errand. FSUIPC and SimConnect are two separate applications.

Pete Dowson's has a thread FSUIPC Client DLL for .NET and the FSUIPC SDK contains UIPC_SDK_VisualBasic.zip which has a
Library for Visual Basic programmers.

The SimConnect SDK has a section Programming SimConnect Clients using Managed Code and an example of Managed VB.NET Code Sample.

You need to decide which one to use. I, however, prefer C++ so can't help further.
