Just wanted to post an little announcement and a big-big THANK YOU to Arno and all who contribute to the FSDeveloper forums. Without you guys I never would have had the inspiration, the drive and dedication it takes of several years of leaning to code, learning to design and develop in order to release of one of the buggers!

Great stuff Clutch. Can't wait to check it out.

Edit: I have now checked it out, and I have to say it is an amazing scenery. Great job. The autogen is perfectly placed throughout, and performance is excellent. If I had to make one very minor criticism, it would be that maybe some more vegetation amongst the buildings would be good, as I couldn't seem to see any. I saw heaps of bushes in the desert areas and vegetation on the mountain, but amongst the buildings there seemed to be none. That is about the only (hopefully) constructive criticism I can add because it is an amazing scenery as is.

Cheers,

Thx for the update Toni. Always a bit nervous with a first-time scenery/first-time download. If you like enjoy it... spread the word! ;)

Also, be sure to read the Pilot's Guide... there is a secrete surprise in there. :p

I actually have the exact same issue: no vegetation among the buildings at all, but I do have them surrounding the scenery. Definitely doesn't look like the screenshot. Not sure what's going on with that. I do fear there might be a larger issue with my autogen though...

Also, I have a major elevation issue at KABQ. Ironically the problem got worse after disabling the OrbX Vector elevation correction. I have to do some more testing to see if the issue stems from this scenery, or whether there's something else at play here... I do not have any additional KABQ sceneries, to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Let me try to start digging into the issues you see. First regarding vegetation it should be throughout the scenery like my promo shots. A screenshot of missing veg area would help a lot but it sounds like the agn files were not updated to include my custom files. First off, if you ran simwestALBQ the first time and did not see any trees/veg. Shut down the sim and start it again. It can take a 2nd boot of the sim the first time you install so all the agn files are set properly. Usually you would get a small info window saying this needs to be done (a reboot that is). It's in the Pilot's Guide explaining what's happening. So I would try that first. Now if this not the issue, then we need to proceed to step two so let me know.

As for KABQ and elevation, first as an FYI, we do not modify KABQ or it's AFCAD. I am working with the beta team on this. One did encounter the same issue and was able to fix it easily from what I understand. I appears a free AFCAD addon replacement did the trick. Need to confirm. I am working with them on the issue so we reproduce it and suggest ways to fix this. Appreciate the patience.

If you are running Orbx Vector and have elevation issues with KABQ, try this:

1. First, do NOT add another AFCAD like I mentioned above. That was incorrect.
2. Run FTX Central
3. Select FTX Global Vector
4. Go to the AEC tab
5. Add KABQ to the side that says "AEC is Enabled For:"
6. Click "Apply".

Restarting the sim for ACM did indeed fix the missing vegetation issue. I should have thought of that, as I even read in the manual about that. I am kind of used to ignoring the ACM restart the sim message because it pops up every time I start P3DV3 or P3DV4. The vegetation all seems to be in place now.

Just as a data point I don't appear to have any elevation issues at KABQ with ORBX Vector enabled or disabled. I have no other KABQ installed.

Cheers,

Very nice. I assume there will be more payware areas coming. South California would be my first pick. How do you handle areas where there are payware airports like Socal with many Orbx Airports etc. I'm thinking in terms of color variation, elevation issues etc. I own them all in SoCAL Sim720 Palomar, Orbx Catalina, Santa Barbara, Agua Dulce, Big Bear, Palm Springs, San Diego and LatinVFR KSNA as well as 29Palms. I assume you have beta testers with all these addons?

I'm afraid my problem with the trees and the elevation issue are still there, but it now seems as though I have los trees all over the place. Some landclass tiles still have trees, but many others don't. It's hard for me to say whether the issue has started upon installation of Albuquerque though... The elevation issue may be a result of FreeMeshX though. Has it been tested with that mesh product?

Do you use orbx Global Vector or NA Landclass? We did not test with certain name brands of meshes. Only what each tester had. If FreeMesh is solely a mesh product I cannot see it interfering with vegetation - elevation issues like plateaus and valleys but I would not think agn. simwestALBQ adds custom veg trees but does not overwrite/replace any default veg. It may be a priority issue or a certain autogen file did not update via ACM. Can you post a screenie of what you are seeing? Or if you want you can email me with the screenshot. Up to you.

Just saw this thread -

https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/555884-some-lc-tiles-missing-tree-autogen/

Not sure if related to your issue or not but maybe worth a look?

That's actually my thread ;) After installing ALBQ and having ACM do its thing, trouble started all over the place... I'm not sure if this has anything to do with ACM, or any of the other sceneries I have that also installed custom autogen, though... Since you've read the thread, you've probably also seen that 'renewing' the autogen's files back to default has not done anything to help the situation, which is what I find most mysterious. I have read on the OrbX forum that somebody who had autogen troubles ended up uninstalling all of Orbx and reinstalling it, and this cured it. Perhaps I should try that as a last resort before I reinstall.

I might help to add that I also have MegaScenery's NM state photoscenery, but this is all the way at the bottom of the scenery list, so shouldn't have a problem with priorities.

Also, I attached some shots of what it looks like for me.

Thanks for posting the screenshots. The first one is an orbx issue. We have seen this several times for those that use orbx vector. The 2nd shot is an agn issue with missing our trees. Could be that ACM did not update or issue one is interfering with issue #2. So lt's work on issue #1. Let's try the following:

First, turn off (deactivate), orbx vector files for KABQ,: APB_KABQ.bgl, APT_KABQ.bgl, and AEC_KABQ.bgl. I do not own vector myself so I am not sure if this is done in FTX Central or an Vector screen or if one has to manually perform this. My beta tester on this subject is not available to confirm how to disable. See if that works.

Second, using in addition a 3rd party AFCAD may solve any other elevation or "spikes" you may see.

Sometimes the combination of the two steps above along with the steps below should resolve the issue.

The main culprit is the order in which simwestALBQ and FTX Global Vector is loaded. In order for the airport to show up correctly, ALBQ has to load on top of Vector. This has to be true, not just in the scenery library, but it has to be set up in FTX Central as well. If it is not set up in FTX Central, it does not matter how it looks in the scenery manager, Vector will still load on top of ALBQ. Here are the steps to ensure they are set up in FTX Central:

1. Start FTX Central and select the sim you have ALBQ and Global Vector intalled to.
2. In the lower left-hand corner of FTX Central, click on the "Settings" icon.
3. In the middle section of the screen you will see a section called "Library Insertion Point".
Right under that you will see a line that says "FTX entries should be inserted below:",
Click on the box directly below that. Your scenery library entries will show up.
Click on the line that says "simwestALBQ".

Below that is a line that says "openLC entries should be inserted below",
Click on the box directly below that. Your scenery library entries will show up again.
Click on the line that says "FTX"

4. Click on the "Save" icon in that box. (VERY IMPORTANT)
5. Exit FTX Central.

When you start your sim next, the ACM will run (it will run every time you make any change in FTX Central). Exit the sim and restart. The scenery should load up properly this time.

If the customer already has an addon for KABQ, he may need to run the AEC (Automatic Elevation Corrections tool) to correct any elevation errors caused by the other addon. To do this:

1. Start FTX Central, select the sim you wish to configure.
2. Click on the Global Vector icon in the middle section of the screen.
3. On the next screen, select "Control Panel" icon to configure this product.
4. Click on the "Airport Elevation Corrections" tab.
5. You can click on the "Run Auto-Configuration" icon to try to let FTX configure the addons properly. (This works MOST of the time, but not always).
After it completes, be sure to click on "Apply" at the bottom of the screen to save any changes (Very Important)

If, after running the auto-configuration the scenery still doesn't show up correctly, you can run this utility again, but instead of clicking on the auto-configuration, you will look at the lower part of the screen under "Manual Configuration". Just type "KABQ" in either of the boxes "AEC is enabled for" or "AEC is disabled for" search boxes. KABQ will show up under one or the other indicating whether it is already enabled or disabled. When it shows up in the search results, click on it to select it, then click on the "Disable >>" or "<< Enable" button to change it's status. Then click on "Apply" (Very Important), then "Exit".

6. Next time you start up the sim, ACM will run again because you made changes in FTX Central, just restart and see if it corrected the elevation. If not, check the scenery order in the scenery library for any addon which has KABQ scenery in it. This must load above Global Vector.

Here is a shot with Vector loading above simwestALBQ. Looks just like your shot:

orbx issue before.jpg

And here is the same shot with ABQ loading above Global Vector:

orbx issue after.jpg

All better. Once this is done and looking good we can take a look at the missing trees.

Excellent! Indeed, disabling those three Vector files cured the elevation issue. Another thing I did was to add the Autogen folder of ALBQ as a addon component with Lorby's addon managar. I believe this might have enabled shrubbery around the airport, but frankly I'm not certain... The trees in the city are still gone however.

But, perhaps it's not worth the trouble. As I anyway have had some issues upgrading to P3Dv4.5, I'm probably going to reinstall the sim from scratch. While I won't go through the process of reinstalling all the scenery, at least I'll go back to a 'vanilla' simulator.

Glad that part helped. I could walk you through the tree issue but as you said you are gonna do a reinstall. Maybe then? I gotta do an update to v4.5 as well :p Check out are latest release... just "dropped" yesterday.

Happy 4th

Wow, very nice!! I currently MegaSceneryEarth with Nuvecta autogen, which is already a huge improvement. How would your SOCAL product compare? For example, do LA, Burbank, Hollywood etc include new, custom buildings? Though it does seem like the night lighting has received a very nice upgrade! Also, what about compatibility with likes of LatinVFR KSAN, which includes nice models for the downtown area?

Thx. We do not create custom buildings. Our goal was overall immersion and performance over a large region so a simmer can use it as a base scenery as is or add 3rd-party detailed airports. For example, I use LatinVFR KASN and it blends in very nice. I also use FSDT KLAX, 29 Palms Big Bear, bunch of Shez's amazing free airports. Of course with so many airport add-ons we cannot guarantee perfect matches. I will say with the new releases of custom agn textures from RD and orbx that should enhance our scenery as well. Currently, I have added REX's World Airports for custom airport textures. Makes a nice step up for default airports.

As for comparing with MegaScenery Earth (I use for other states), and Nuvecta, I would hop on over to the FlightSim.Com Store and take a look at the screenies. I will let them speak for themselves. ;) Also, since you mentioned San Diego (my hometown), check out the Limited Edition UHD San Diego "4-Buck Boost". For those courageous to try our new scenery you can get .30cm resolution for all of San Diego (12GB) for $4.00! Ok, enuf of the advertising...

The screenshots do look wonderful ;) One final question: If I overlay SOCAL with MSE's UltraResCities LA, will that enhance your addon in any way? Because I think MSE's LA City coverage is perhaps higher than that of your SOCAL? Not sure if that's true or not...

simwestSOCAL is 1m. MSE UltraResCitiesLA is .60m so it is a little higher resolution. But it would be a tradeoff. If you overlay MSE with a higher priority you would lose all simwest autogen, trees, buildings, library objects, 3D night lights and custom nighttime textures. If you give simwestSOCAL the higher priority you may see MSE "bleed through" or "pop through" the simwest scenery if you set the P3D Level of detail radius to Max and set the Texture Resolution to 60cm (or maybe just max it out to 7cm). But I do not have that MSE so I cannot verify and that would be just a limited circumference around the aircraft.

Another option is what I call "kit bashing". This is where you would copy all the simwest texture folder files into MSE. That would give you image aligned agn buildings, trees and lights, but at duck and night you would see a dark, blanked out are for MSE as they do not have nighttime textures.

Hope that helps.
