• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

This weekend (the 13th and 14th of October) Nick and I will be working on some maintenance of the site. This also includes moving it to a different server. So the site will probably be offline for most of the weekend. After that, you should see some improvements. Like a better navigation structure and more integrated Wiki.

We will start the maintenance in about 30 minutes. So be warned that the site will be offline then.

As you might have noticed the site has been offline for a day. Unfortunately there were some technical problems with the new server we wanted to move the site to. So we have done some preparations, but have not been able to move the site completely. This means that within the next few weeks we will be offline again for a bit.

Uh-oh :(
I wish you better luck next time, guys!

By the way, totally off-topic, but have you thought about whether to expand fsdeveloper next year to include MSTS2? Since both are built on the same ACES architecture / "engine", I can see where having one site would be very beneficial from a developer perspective, as I would expect (with the caveat that I know only what the ACES folks have published on their MSTS2 websites/blogs) certain aspects of game development (e.g. terrain, scenery) to be similar, if not identical between both games.

What current FSX developers have learnt & will continue to learn about developing for FSX & discuss in these forums may be very useful to current MSTS1 developers when they transition to developing for MSTS2 as, for them, the architecture will be very new to them (if they are not also working with FSX today).

Not that any decision needs to be made soon, but something to think about over the next few months & perhaps discuss with your ACES contacts?

That is a good point. If the design is very similar between FsX and MSTS2, I agree that it might be a good idea to also add some new MSTS forums. The discussion between FsX and MSTS developers might even lead to new insights.

We will be giving the site maintenance another go today, so around 12:00 (CET) I think the site will be offline again. You have been warned now :).

We are back up and running! Yahoooooooo!

We hope you like the new site!

Hi all.

I'm not crazy about the new color scheme. Black, white and orange? The old scheme was a LOT easier on the eyes.

Dick

Hey Dick, do NOT panic :)

We are working on other skins as well.. just may take a while.

I like it a lot, if you need some help making graphics I can help. Head over to http://www.codethirteen.com/home to see my work and you can email me through here I guess. I'd be more than willing to help out in that area.

Just a quick note to some people who might be experiencing the same as me, if you control+f5 you will do a hard refresh of your browser and shouldn't see the site intermitting with the old one like I have been the last ten minutes.

Not only MSTS-users could benefit from this, also Auran Trainz rely on Gmax to create content. So a group Trainz/MSTS section might attract some visitors. My 'partner in crime' is a dedicated Trainz builder (creating our whole hometown!) and he has been sneaking around our topics for quite some time...;)

I am not so sure if adding Trainz would be a good idea. Although they use GMax as well, the export process will not be similar. I think we should keep the focus on FS here.
