Yesterday, I tried to download FlyTampa Amsterdam which I have owned for a very long time. I didn't realize that what I downloaded were textures NOT the scenery itself. Somehow the install corrupted software on my computer. Not to go into a lot of detail, reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 fixed P3D and GSX BUT Google Earth and Sketchup couldn't be fixed. Finally today, I was able to fix Google Earth Pro but no matter how hard I try, Sketchup does nothing but BUG SPLAT. After four hours Trimble has been no help at all. I installed a new driver (2022) for my AMD Radion R9 360 which was their last suggestion. Still no joy. In desperation, I did something that I did for some other software that worked: I copied all the files off my Windows 7 64bit laptop and after installing the Sketchup 2016 onto the Windows 10 desktop, copied and pasted all the Windows 7 Skietchup 2016 files replacing everyone on the desktop. I prayed it would work but it still did not. I am posting here because Trimble and the Sketchup forum are nothing but articles not a real person who could possibly help. This is my last resort.

Here is how after much praying, I found the FIX. I Googled my problem and it seems that quite a few people have had the same issues trying to install the LAST FREE VERSION of Sketchup which is 2017. The problem was the installer looking for MSVS C++ which is no longer there and 2017 crashed when it couldn't find it at Microsoft to download it. It didn't matter that I downloaded and installed MSVS 2015-2022 version. Anyway, the way around it that was suggested AND worked like a charm was to unzip the Sketchup2017.exe installer with 7-zip and to execute the .msi installer because all the files it needs including in a folder the MSVS C++ version it needs to install. Thank you Lord for answer my prayer after four hours of tearing out what little hair I have at 76. It is now working like it was before. I also updated all my 8 drivers with AVG this morning it scanned as old which probably didn't hurt. Problem solved. Post closed.
