• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello one and all:

I need some guided wisdom,...

I have created a model within SketchUp,.. I want to add animation to a certain area of the model,..

I was able to import into Blender through import from a ".dae" file. But for the life of me I'm unable to see the textures after import,.. though I know the textures came across ok,... since I can see them within the material portion of Blender,... how do I see them though on the model/view ports?

Thanks..

Hi Pyscen!

You need to choose the viewport shading for your project. See Image Below.

I hope this helps!

Happy Blendering, Kris:)

Hello krispy ...

To follow up:

I did what you suggested... unfortunately it did not help... I will try something different later this evening along with the setting and see what happens...

Hi Doug,

also switch the Shading mode from Multitexture to GLSL. The Shading mode of the 3D-viewport is located on the right hand side properties rollout (Hit N to toggle), scroll down. Hope this helps...

Cheers :)

Thanks...

I have found that Blender can only use psd files that are a single layer. So... I will have to convert my textures first, all to a psd single layer with no mask and /or additional layers.

Will keep all informed...

After some long and drawn out conversion (see above),... there appears to be still a problem with converting ".dae" files into Blender (even though its a default import),... I have started using the SketchUp plug-in for Blender,... and getting better results. :stirthepo

Well,.. To follow up:

Both the .dae and .skp import options within Blender are not the best, if one wishes to import a SketchUp file into Blender.
But not everything is a lost... There actually 2 ".obj" file exporters for SketchUp... and they both do a pretty good job in bringing over textures, along with quad-like faces (the latter is important if one wishes to edit them within Blender).
1) The 1st: www.sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=33448
2) and the 2nd: www.extension.sketchup.com/en/content/quadface_tools.
Then, take a look at Krispy's tutorial "Importing An OBJ File Into Blender And Re-Texturing It (Blender To FSX)": The 2nd tutorial within that page: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/blender-2-70-blender2fsx-tools-video-tutorials.430998/page-7 or Goto directly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=17&v=vTKxDRu-tK8

I want to "Thanks!" once again to @krispy1001, for his priceless tutorials and @capt_x, for his Plug-in, Blender2FSX!
