• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Yesterday I started to work on a feature that has been on the wishlist for quite a while. I am not fully done yet, but since the results are quite nice already I want to share this preview video. In this video you see an interactive mode to place and orientate an attached object (in this case a light). With this new mode you can just click on the object where you want to light to be and then press on the ground or object to specify the direction it should shine.

Yes, I can be very interesting. Orientation of lights for scenery and aircraft will be a plus.

I finally had a chance to play with this feature and it works well (after I took the time to watch Arno's video }.

It made attaching a logo light to my conversion a piece of cake and positioning the light on the model was much easier than the old modify the X Y Z co-ordinates 50 times to get it right method.

It is in the latest development release indeed. Did you select the right interaction mode before you clicked?

Likely that is what ; how do you select the right interaction mode ? I add a light and click right and left mouse buttons but do not move.

Either use the keyboard shortcut (U) or use the combo box at the bottom toolbar to go to update interaction mode.

In case you are not aware, I did make a video tutorial about the finished feature as well.
