• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi everyone, nice to be here.

I have been making scenes with Abacus EZScenery and really enjoyed it, so I desided to try my hand on "making" my own with FSDS.
So far so good making some objects like a hangar, control tower etc.....but
I can´t find how to make a "Solid surface" for a landing field!!!!...

How do I tell the program the surface I made is solid so an airplane can land on it????:yikes:

thanks for your help.

#1 - Use afcad :)

Actually, you CAN, but it entails hand-editing the x file before running it through makemdl.exe, so it's easier to use afcad to create the surface

Thanks Felix, but man!, I am really new at this.....where do I get "afcad" and what is it???another program?......this is getting messy, but fun.....

I htink I downloaded afcad from either flightsim.com or simviation.com. HOWEVER, don't take my word for it as I'm no scenery guru. I have done one (1) facsimile of an airfiield layout in afcad, and placed it in FS9. MIraculously, I could even find it! Now, to search through the readings, etc, and try to figure out how to get rid of several trees in the middle of the grass runways... !!

Yes, you should be able to find AFCAD at any major FS site, so flightsim.com, avsim.com, etc.
