• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

[SOLVED] Jetway A animation error in Max

Hello Jeffrey,

I have a problem with the animation of Jetway A, precisely with the bridge extension. The bridges A and B are scaled after running the script in Max 2015 instead of just pushing the other bridges forward, which also creates problem with texturing. I tried editing the bone in the bone tools and changed Stretch from scale to none under object properties and that works fine in Max and ModelconverterX, but the jetway is not animated in P3D any longer.

I also tried playing with the pivots, as suggested in another thread, but no luck on that front.
I am really out of possibilities here and would appreciate any help.

Cheers

3dsmax doesn't display the jetway correctly, it will look stretched and funky. Just export it, as per the manual and in sim it should be fine

Thanks, it did work, strangely the first batch of models I created was also exporting the scaling...

But I still need to clarify a few points, maybe someone knows an answer to that too:

Question 1: So the jetway animation Max file does only work with Max 2015 and upwards so it can only be exported with the P3D SDK...
If I use the P3D MDL file, the animation does not work in P3D (v3.3), the animation is not recognised. Only when I export it as an FSX MDL the animation also works in the sim. How can that be?

Question 2: I created a jetway with 2 elements (like the real one) and I made them long enough to definitely reach the door of a small aircraft (A320/B737) parked at a heavy Gate, which happens quite often. When I run the script, then export it and use the jetway in the sim, SODE always says "Aircraft door too far away".
What parameter do I need to change or what do I have to pay attention to when I make the elements longer in Max in order for the 2 elements to extend fully?

Cheers

Q1: Did you also update the modeldef.xml of the P3D SDK?
Q2: You really have to ensure that those two elements are long enough. Also, you need to update the jetway.cfg with the new parameters. Maybe the old (shorter) values are still in your active jetway.cfg.
