• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Solved: Missing vertices when exporting to gITF

Hi all,

I've created a large GP mesh and converted it to glTF. But when imported inside sim, there were multiple wrong faces. I checek the exported glTF inside blender, and it turns out some of the vertices went missing, shown in pic below. Any ideas why this happened? I exported the same blender file to DAE, and imported in SketchUp and Max with no problem at all. Only glTF that has this problem, checked inside sim, MCX, and also blender itself. Thanks!

And this is after exported to glTF, and then imported again. Note that this is only at a particular small location, and the same problem happened at many other places.

Solved: I tried adding a single edge near the problematic area, by connecting two vertices using "J" shortcut, thus splitting the face.

Then everything is back to normal, nothing is missing, nothing suddenly appears, and face is intact. Maybe glTF exporter is not smart enough to choose which vertex to connect to other vertex, thus creating faces that suddenly appear and deleting disconnected vertices. For anyone that has similar problem, just try this method. I end up only creating a single extra edge to solve every problem in this humongous mesh of service road

Could it be possible that you have the normals facing the wrong direction?

I think it's not the problem. All face normals are checked, all blue colored, and red on the other side. Vertices normal is facing the correct way too. I don't understand why, but problem is solved by adding a single edge at two of the problematic vertices
